I actually wouldn’t be overly surprised if the only reason Nine is continuing with Hot Seat in 2018 is because their 6pm news bulletins in the key metro East Coast markets are still outrating their Seven equivalents most weeknights.
But overall, it wouldn’t really bother me if Hot Seat was axed especially in it’s current format. I’ll admit it was fun to see a social media friend’s impromptu “Macarena” performance on the show a few months back, but aside from that I’ve lost a lot of interest in the show since the million went off and the new format launching at the start of this year!

I still like Hot Seat… though I rarely watch the Fastest Finger First bit, as it’s a bit boring and monotonous for 15 straight questions.
I’m still smiling about the look on the young Melbourne croupier’s face who today won $100,000… when he got told he won, he looked like a stunned mullet.

Nine knows he’s a journalist.

The Anti-Defamation Commission, a Jewish community organisation, has criticised Eddie McGuire for what it says were anti-Semitic comments made by him on Hot Seat this week.

Judging by the promo that’s airing this weekend, it looks like there might be another “Million Dollar Episode” of Hot Seat on Monday!
The promo is asking whether a contestant who’s wedding day didn’t go according to plan may become a “Millionaire Bride” and there’s this:

I wonder if Nine, Seven or BBC UKTV will show this here.

I enjoyed the format when it first aired twenty years ago but found the revived version rather slow and tedious. Can’t even stomach Hot Seat for more than a few minutes these days. Hard Quiz is far more entertaining even if they only give away a giant mug.

Only problem is that they have to give out way more money compared to the Hot Seat version, where you see a total of $2000 won on quite a few shows.
I’ve watched three of the seven episodes and surely ITV are planning on a revival, especially after the reception of JC and their ratings on Saturday night. I hope they do because really it would be a waste of a new set and host for just a 20 year special week.

I could watch Tom yelling at commuters from his mobile brass mug all day

This show is an absolute joke. I’m sick of seeing Eddie direct contestants to the correct answer.

I rarely watch Hot Seat these days, but did check tonight’s episode out due to the appearance of another online friend as a contestant.
Anyway, despite getting the lowest score in “Fastest Finger”, passing on a question and not getting a return go (or doing any impromptu “Macarena” performance like someone else I know from the social medias did on an episode of Hot Seat last July ) it was nice to see another contestant win $20k!
Despite all that I still think the format could do with some tweaking (like making sure the “Fast Finger” segment and contestant backstories don’t go on so much) and my opinion on Eddie McGuire remains the same - he’s only a very slightly more tolerable game show presenter than Andrew O’Keefe or Grant Denyer IMO!

Yes, Fastest Finger First is my least favourite part of the show.
It seems so obviously added on to make it last an hour.
But I do like Eddie as a host.

Apparently, there’s a play on the cheating scandal that happened on UK Millionaire back in 2001
