Party at Jessica Rowe’s house tonight.
I just assumed based on the articles this morning on Eddie’s comments, I know how passionate he is/was about Hot Seat and always sounded (when he’s been asked recently on the rumours) like ‘the show goes, he goes’. But yes, of course he might very well stay just IMO doesn’t feel like that, he could also be part of the problem, rather than being a ‘dated format’, we all know he has as many detractors as supporters, apparently Sydney judging by their media storm when he was Nine’s CEO in mid-2000s, yet Sydney seem to be the market that like Hot Seat and Brisbane did too, so go figure.
LOL was thinking the same this morning Awks for Overton/Nine.
Meat just “off the bone” for dinner tonight?
Unlike the current Seven Network, its good to see Nine maintain its productions in Melbourne (GTV9).
Why? 7 airs the chase UK and the chase australia
No surprise to see it gone.
It would make sense to replace it with a local version of Tipping Point. The UK version is incredibly popular in that afternoon slot (no idea how because IMO it’s incredibly boring, but clearly there’s interest)
It won’t be Tipping Point. RDF has said they’re looking for expats for the Aussie primetime specials which will be filmed in the UK for Nine. The clue is that the replacement will be filmed in Melbourne which would suggest that the format is either going to be one that Nine have previously aired like Sale Of The Century or The Price Is Right or something which is ‘new’ to the network like Pointless or Deal or No Deal.
I don’t see why this suggests what you are claiming it suggests
This would be an interesting comeback.
Yes but that’s led to The Chase UK rating about half what Tipping Point UK is doing in the same slot, which is one of the reasons why Nine’s afternoon news is beating Seven’s these days.
I think Eddie will definitely stay at Nine because he has a hosting role on Footy Classified.
As for the new program, I think Eddie will have first rights of refusal to be host.
The thing is, most people aren’t aware of the scandals and gossip behind the scenes in television. I was talking to some workmates in the office yesterday (and it has been a long time since we’ve all been in the office together). Our office is near the old Seven studio in Martin Place and we were talking about all the changes and developments happening around there at the moment. About half the people in the group had no idea that Seven had moved out Martin Place and nobody even knew they had moved to Eveleigh. So whatever Eddie did back then is forgotten or people aren’t even aware of it.
He also presented for Ten’s Melbourne Cup coverage last year so he may not be purely tied to Nine.
He hosted something for Channel 7 last year too, more horse racing i think?
Agree. I think it 100% will be Tipping Point. The casting call from the UK-based primetime specials was made months ago, they’ve probably made a decision since then. Given the 3pm version is often in the Top 20 they’d be mad not to make a 5pm version. If given a choice between something proven to rate (in 2023) and an untested ‘new’ show, the choice is obvious surely
No I don’t think so. 7’s the one network he doesn’t have anything to do with.
JAM TV produce programs like Get On and That’s Racing for Racing.com but IFIAK Seven don’t support Racing.com financially anymore. Maybe that’s what @Radiohead is referring to?
Not surprising with “resting” Hot Seat. It’s numbers against The Chase do lag. It has had a good run.
I wonder if pushing the show to an hours in length, than the original 30 minutes, pushed it for fans to get tired of it? Hot Seat only has 15 questions in 45 minutes (plus the Hot Finger segment in the first 15 minutes). Lots of padding from Eddie when contestants leave early. Compared to The Chase.
I wonder if the new show will be 30 minutes long? If the replacement isn’t Tipping Point.
Fastet Finger in Hot Seat didn’t add any merit, or excitement, even with the additional lifelines it gives - ultimately just padding.
