Discussion continues here: HM Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) -- Funeral Coverage
Itâs been a long day, or even almost 2 weeks for Alison and the Today/9 crew. They definitely deserve a massive standing ovation and respect after a long 11 days of non stop coverage in London.
National Memorial Service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Thursday 22 September 10:30 AM
ABC TV and ABC NEWS will broadcast Australiaâs National Memorial Service For Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II live from the Great Hall of Parliament House on Thursday 22 September.
Coverage starts at 10.30am AEST live on ABC NEWS Channel (10.30am local time in all states on ABC TV). It will be live streamed on ABC iview and available after the broadcast for catch up.
You can also listen to the live coverage on ABC Radio, online and via the ABC listen app.
Any of the commercials taking it?
No advice to suggest they are at this stage.
Apparently it is not open to the public. Something I am outraged about
You would think that there will be live crosses during the morning shows on the commercial networks.
What made you think it would be? That room would hold about the same as a school assembly hall.
because it should be open to the public. she was the peoples queen and the people should be entitled to celebrate her life. It shouldnât just be for big wigs and politicians in suits. It should be open to everyday Australians
How many normal punters off the street did you see at her funeral?
Lol⌠How many every day people did you see lining the streets despite not being able to attend the funeral?
Nothing stopping you standing outside to watch the dignitries attend. lol
And youâre implying people wonât?
Of which how many were allowed inside? Line the streets, do whatever, Iâm just not sure why a memorial service for a HOS being a restricted event would be in the slightest way a surprise.
If it was being held at the MCG, perhaps.
David Speers and Nour Haydar hosting this morningâs coverage of the national memorial service on ABC TV and ABC News channels.
David mentions that the ABC will also have crosses to a protest at Melbourneâs Birrarung Marr by local Indigenous people, taking place at the same time as the memorial service.
Melissa Doyle is the MC inside the Great Hall of Parliament House.
However the public has been invited to watch the memorial service live on the big screens on the lawns of Parliament House. The building will be open to the public this afternoon, after the service concludes.
