Hit Network

This seems a little risky (but might be worth it), but I think trying to be a cut-price version of K&JO isn’t necessarily the right approach though - find something less safe that offers an alternative.

Anybody know what Annette Sharp wrote, and then Erin Molan responded to in the daily tele today?

Just that the show was a failure and she called Channel 7 begging for a job, which Erin denies.

Just putting it out there… does anyone else feel Jimmy & Nath are “on trial” and if ratings improve that 2DayFM will keep them at breakfast?

They might try Mike E and Emma at Breakfast before the end of the year and see what audience feedback is like.

According to this page on the 2DayFM (LiSTNR) website, it sounds like Jimmy & Nath are permanent (even though we all know they’re not… yet).

Mike E & Emma to national nights for the remainder of 2024.

No more 9-11am on 2DayFM? What about RnB Fridays Radio breakfast?

They’ll actually do better at night. Plus, it won’t be as awkward if Mike E & Emma do move to 2DayFM breakfast from nights to breakfast in 2025.

And Weekend Breakfast.

There must be someone “higher up” at SCA who doesn’t have complete faith that Mike E & Emma can do 2DayFM breakfast.

Apart from Carrie & Tommy, they’re probably the strongest duo “chemistry-wise” who can deliver, are established and are available to move around.

They’re a much better 2Day breakfast choice than some in the past.

I still think if Mike E and Emma are to do breakfast the station must return to Top 40. I just think they don’t really work with the current format which is why nights is a good slot for them as even 2Day FM are Top 40 at nights along with the rest of the network.

Yeah I agree, I’d put Jimmy & Nath in their spot on Nights 7-10 and weekend breakfast highlights. What do the HIT stations air at 6pm?

Breakfast show highlights.

Maybe run Nights 6-10 then. No loss there.

That’s the only reason I can think why SCA aren’t putting Mike E & Emma on 2DayFM breakfast right now.

They probably don’t want to change the music around too much too soon. They only recently added “from the 90s and 00s” to their positioner.

If it was me, I’d just switch to “Today’s Best Music” (as it ties in well with the name) and be done with it. And also cut back on the amount of older hits played too.

or alternatively focus RnB and dance music

Sounds like Mike E and Emma will be live on weekends from what they were saying at the end of their podcast today.

They might do what Jimmy & Nath used to do.
monday night - best bits from weekend breakfast
Tues-Thurs live nights
Saturday & Sunday live
I think they’re legally required to have two days off a week. More likely they’ll pre-record thurs or sun I reckon.

I would love to see 2DayFM play commercial dance music. Once I start listening to dance I can’t stop. Actually their new slogan could be “2DayFM. Dance. Addictive”

I know i’t s never going to happen though. Mind you, the current mix of the most boring songs from the past 25 years is not exactly working.

In other news, I am not sure I can cope with the station putting another “team” on at breakfast. It’s become a bit of a joke. Maybe they could try a solo announcer. I know they’d need to find someone strong but it would be a point of difference, especially from themselves and the past decade of yelling, screaming and laughing at 7am in the morning.

And FFS, just break away from the rest of the SCA network and program and market a station specifically for Sydney. That logo might work in Coffs Harbour, but how about one designed for Sydney. That programming might work in Adelaide, but what about Sydney? I think that is why 104.1 has been limping along for the last ten years, it’s a station designed for another market that just happens to broadcast in Sydney. It’s Business 101 - find out what your market wants - and deliver it.
