That really just emphasises my point. He’s got a history longer than most of drugs, domestic violence, jail time and relapses, yet the Perth media continue to laud him as a hero. If he’s got his life on track now, good on him, it’s fantastic when a past offender can successfully be rehabilitated.

He, and anyone else with his record, wouldn’t even get an interview anywhere else. 7 clearly aren’t too keen to roll him out onto their AFL coverage, which he’d arguably be an excellent candidate for, because they know what the reaction would be outside Perth.

However, my point isn’t to have a go at Ben. It’s to highlight that this is an example of how the media landscape is vastly different in Perth compared to the rest of the country, something which is often highlighted in discussions about how descisions made in the East are generally not well aligned to the Perth market.

it’s hard to agree with someone that hasn’t even expressed their opinion

I think WATV’s use of the term ā€œObviously you have no ideaā€ demonstrates that he disagrees with everything you said.

Cousins is also currently competing on Dancing with the Stars, so I guess that means Channel 7 over east have given him more than an interview everywhere else.

So it’s now controversial to suggest that different markets react differently. Isn’t that media/politics/etc 101?
Might as well pump Kyle and Jackie O in and be done with it if I’m wrong on that statement.

Hardly. Just another criminal who Kerry Stokes has decided to give a rebirth to. Tucked away in his Dalkeith mansion he’s hardly got a grip on what Perth think, let alone the rest of the Australia.

On the show each morning this week, one lucky listener was plucked from the standby list and chauffeur driven to the vault for a chance to win $1 million. After chatting with Fifi, Fev and Nick at the millionaire’s lounge next door, the listener walked to the vault and picked a random number envelope, which was then verified by a government official, and then opened live on air by the hosts.

According to Fifi, Fev and Nick’s Instagram page, the first four people all missed out on the million dollar prize and instead won a few thousand dollars. I missed this morning’s show so didn’t know if the big prize went off.

Has anyone EVER won $1m on Australian radio?

Liquor & Gaming are loving it… and so too are the insurers of all these prizes.

When Kyle and Jackie O were on 2DayFm they gave away $1 million in 2011 https://radioinfo.com.au/news/vampire-lovers-win-1-million-2days-dawn-ob/

No it didn’t, a few zeroes short.

The 5 MILLION DOLLAR WEEK turned out to be

Monday: $2,000
Tuesday: $2,000
Wednesday: $2,000
Thursday: $2,000
Friday: $2,000

Fox FM also had a million dollar winner with their Million Dollar Head in the Sand promotion in 2012. https://radioinfo.com.au/news/what-are-odds-fox-gives-away-million-melbourne/

2UE in 1984 launched the "Millionaire Mania’ promo.
The largest radio prize ever offered in Australia, at the time.
It was a guaranteed $20,000 a year for 50 years.
The winner, an older lady, was thrilled. So were the insurance company underwriting the prize.
However, it was a legitimate Million dollars on offer.
Interestingly, 2UE didn’t achieve a number 1 rating as a result of that promo.

Probably even more amazing back then given $1 million was worth a lot more money.

Consider that the average Sydney house price in 1984 was just $85,000.
Now it’s about 13 times that amount ($1.12 mil).

Havent heard much since it launched but hows Mike E and Emma going on 2Day Mornings? Is there anyone here listening to it? Is it a good show or is 9am really a music preferred time?

I think it’s just playbacks of their DAB+ brekkie show, with Mike E top & tailing each break (and maybe Emma re-recording some bits too).

Clearly just a tool to test them with the 2Day Sydney audience.

I still find their content better than the 2Day’s HE&E brekkie team. It’s odd having two shows back-to-back.

Does anybody else find yesterdays increase at 2DayFM could be due to Mike E and Emma coming to mornings?

Whilst their daypart increased 1.3, the breakfast day part increased by 1.4, with arvos and drive each increasing by 1.2. So, no I wouldn’t put it down to Mike-E and Emma.

I understand that folks on here like them, but does the general Sydney public even care who they are? Outside of being the ex-Edge 96.1 breakfast show, who are they? It’s been two years since ARN blew up the Edge, so a lot of the general public would’ve likely forgotten them.

I just love how it took until 2023/2024 for SCA to put H&A best bits (podcast) on 2DayFM Breakfast whilst the regular show was on break.

I’d now like to see what happens if Mike E & Emma were to fill-in for HE&E on 2DayFM Breakfast during a survey break.
