Hit Network

HAHA! they denied it, but like no one saw that coming. Quite sad though. Is there a replacement or will it just be the Pete & Kymba show?

Is it because they’re no longer top rating that SCA doesn’t see the need to have a trio at Mix Breakfast?

Not really sure what direction they are taking the station. It needs some changes though, definitely feels lost. With Nova so far ahead of them, they should perhaps try and become more top 40.

Remember - Matt was added back when Mix94.5 was under the Triple M Network. Maybe now by having a duo, it’ll become more of a “Hit” station.

Although, I highly doubt changing the music format to become more aligned with the remaining Hit Network would be a good idea.

Changing Mix94.5 back to what “made it famous” is what is really needed.

Keep the variety. Especially for Perth.

Yes, I was thinking the same about Matt being added when the station was aligned with Triple M. Bit like how Clairsy left when the station changed to the Hit network.

They somehow need to find themselves between Nova and 96FM. I feel 96 is very similar to the old Mix anyway.

wow im so shocked

(not really considering how little he is on these days)

I really hope they find the right balance with Pete and Kymba. Sometimes it feels like the Pete Curulli show with Matt and Kymba.

i wonder if once he’s done with the musical he’s producing (the reason why he’s leaving) will he be on a rival station? maybe reunited with Clairsy on 96FM?

He was brought in to the team after Shane McFarlane passed away.

I don’t think this will happen. If they skew older again, they risk too much crossover with Triple M. And 96FM has pretty much taken the role they had previous to joining the Hit Network.

I remember when he was the afternoon announcer on B105 about 10-15 years ago

Any update from Mix94.5? Have they still dropped, “Mix Means Variety”? Any word of what’s happening at the station?

There was a few days this week where Mix Means Variety wasn’t mentioned, yet yesterday it was back, so really no idea what they are doing. Don’t think they do either, apparently breakfast is Matt & Kymba, but Matt looks like Pete now

That has to go down in history as one of the biggest station mess-ups.

Maybe in hindsight they should have kept Hit 92.9, and Mix 94.5 affiliated with the Triple M network. Their total market share from the two stations combined would probably be higher than now.

I agree. I don’t feel either station is really benefitting with the direction they took. And now they’re trying to please everyone with Mix, but something has to go. The station just feels like a mess now.

Their actions have contributed to an unstoppable Nova, and a very competitive 96Fm.
I think the only option now is to blow up Mix 94.5, maybe rename it Hit, and put it on the same log as B105 / Fox to go head on with Nova.
