I moved to Australia in 1999 mid October never remember seeing Hey Hey.
First promo for the special coming up tonight during
The Voice.
Do we need to rename this thread ‘Hey Hey It’s 50 Years’?
Similar title to what they used for their final show of '92.
Do we have a date
No date set. But October 9 would be a good date.
anyone have the actual clip?
The promo is up on their Facebook page.
Love it or hate it, from a television history point of view this will be good one off special to watch.
Also, for our younger members it’ll show how Australian television did live variety back then. Something that is now greatly missed now.
Someone said on TV Tonight on the comments Russell Gilbert had a brain aneurysm and a stroke and hadn’t heard anything online from him for ages?
If true hope Russell is doing okay . But being a comments section I usually don’t use them as a source.
As for hey hey it’s 50 celebrate it I will find a way to watch it. I grew up watching hey hey so it’s a big part of my life at the time.
Was a story from 2015.
The real question is does Seven have the self-control to not repeat the same mistake Nine made and immediately commission a series if the one-off special rates extremely well.
Would a show like HHIS work on Seven?
Even if the one off special rates well, I don’t think Seven will go down the Hey Hey path, but Seven (along with other networks) may see the benefits in retuning live variety back to our screens on a smaller scale. Especially in the post 9pm timeslots.
I can’t see why not, but it would have to be run on a vastly reduced budget and with new, younger talent. Also their schedule is pretty full as it is with AFL in the winter and cricket all summer so where would it air?
i can see a late night variety show working = something like the old vizard live
I suggested a new late night variety show in the Mock Schedules thread - on Seven, 9pm-10:30pm Monday to Wednesday, hosted by Larry Emdur. I do think that some live night programming could be the answer to Seven’s post 9pm problems.
Nights
Nights would be hosted by Larry Emdur, airing Mondays to Wednesdays from 9:00pm to 10:30pm. The program will have a live studio audience and include segments on entertainment and gossip, sport, lifestyle, music, gardening, news of the day, and a nightly quiz which will involve giveaways and prizes to viewers at home. The idea of the program is to retain viewers into the night.
