Saw the promo again during today’s AFLW Grand Final. It will be on 7pm on Easter Sunday.
Johnson posted the details earlier in the thread:
Is Daryl really going to keep churning this crap out until his career carks it? Seriously this is such a blatant attempt at stroking Daryl’s overinflated ego.
I still dont get why its called 100 years?
Kinda jumping the gun aren’t they?
This latest special is only airing in Melbourne and Adelaide according to the Herald Sun. A date for other states is TBA.
The title, only airing in a few states, just all of this… I think Daryl and 7 are on meth
Because the first special was called 50 years, this is the second special so they are calling it 100 years, a play on the title.
The only wonder is what they will call the following two specials later in the year!
The following Sunday 24 April I would expect AFL on Seven in Melbourne and Adelaide prime time so that would be when Hey Hey is shown in the the other states.
Hey Hey End Me.
Probably more a case of it clearly still rates, so 7 will air it. Still a big Hey Hey following out there regardless of a minority of haters opinions ![]()
Can they really bank on this rating as well as the 50 year special? The law of diminishing returns applies to TV shows and this show isn’t immune to that either. Having a few more specials later this year will only dilute it more (which in hindsight is probably a good thing).
The people in the other cities can watch it on 7plus after it airs in Melbourne and Adelaide though
I think 7 forgot about that
If 7 can’t air it on the main channel in Sydney, Brisbane etc. They should air it on 7two rather than delay it other cities
I don’t think Seven will post the special on 7plus until it has aired in all states by April 24.
I think a third special would be too many
Seven and Somers Carroll should have called the second compilation special “Hey Hey It’s 51 Years”!
They should do another live special with a cross between old talent and new talent. Australia has lost the art of variety which is evidenced in the low ratings received in the past. I think ‘Hey Hey’ branding would help launch a new generation
Agree. I’m surprised the networks aren’t pushing into variety based programming more as it’s not something the streaming service really offer.
Networks have been extremely resistant to variety since the mid 2000’s, particularly if there’s no big sponsorships / advertorials involved. It doesn’t help that the (albeit flawed - Takeaway and Rove’s revival were both pretty damn awful and in equally awful timeslots) attempts at 10 to test some variety formats both failed in a big way.
Nowadays commercial networks find reality TV much cheaper to create.
