Hey Hey It’s Saturday specials

Daryl’s message on Facebook:

HEY HEY IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

Dear All,

Greetings! Would you believe Hey Hey hasn’t been on air for eleven years, yet the 50th Anniversary Special rated through the roof for Seven; so much so, I am excited to announce we’ll be back on the network with more in 2022. We also successfully launched www.heyhey.tv, offering over 800 digitised Hey Hey episodes and much much more for you to enjoy at your leisure.

I sincerely want to thank you for your ongoing and passionate support throughout the year for both Dancing with the Stars: All Stars 2021 and the Hey Hey 50th. I look forward to you telling us what you’d like to see in the next Special. It could be anything from the 30 year run of the show – the more ‘out there’ ideas the better!

But for now I want to wish you the very best for a Delta and Omicron COVID free Christmas with your family and a super start to 2022. Let’s hope we can defeat this pandemic so life can get back to normal soon.

A very Merry Christmas,

Daryl

Hope its just a special or two rather than a series.

Now cue the Daryl haters here in 3… 2… 1

A series of five episodes stretch over the the year maximum

They should just keep it to specials rather than a full series.

Do you think they’ll do live shows again?

Revival?

One more special at least

Doubt it, due to costs, the COVID environment and most of the cast being too old, unwell or contracted to other networks.

A new hey hey for 2022 with new hosts that are funny and bring back Dicki knee and have live music and put it on 6:30-8:30 on sundays

More likely highlight clip specials

Ok who’s the host then??

someone relatively unknown and not overexposed would be the way to go. the only was to bring hey hey back other than the clips shows would be with a modernised format with a mixture of new and maybe some old faces occasionally and not necessarily with Daryl.

A comment about the announcement on TV Tonight has the right idea:

Something tells me Channel Seven will do Hey Hey responsible, rather than twenty bloody shows Nine did!

Something tells me they won’t if their track record is anything to go by.

Soon on Hey Hey Its 50 (+1) Years on Seven…:

  • The Sunrise Team will score a “Red Faces” segment and air the skit for Sunrise
  • Seven favourites, Shane Jacobson and Todd McKenney, to make an appearance for the “Celebrity Heads” segment. No other celebrities will be there.
  • Sonia Krugar to join Daryl Somers as co-host like they do on DWTS…
