Great songs heard on radio

107 albums, a lifelong commitment to travelling the country and playing every single town, getting to know people and just collecting as many songs as possible, singing and writing basically until the day he dropped dead. Just a fascinating guy, I feel like he’s not taken seriously enough as an artist still. It’s a huge body of work I’ll probably be exploring forever

Heard “How Do You Do!” By Roxette when I was doing my last minute Easter shopping at Woolworths Maitland this afternoon. An underrated song from the Swedish pop band that was played heaps when it was released in 1992 but doesn’t get much airplay these days compared to their other mainstream hits from the “Look Sharp!/Joyride” eras.

Earthroulette came up with Yallingup (near Margaret River) this afternoon.

Radio Margaret River is off to a flying start with Yothu Yindi- Djapana.

A bit of a mouthful for a callsign… 6RMR or something like that would be better?

Frente- Ordinary Angels

Presidents Of The USA- Kitty

Further songs from RMR. It’s an automated mix, unsurprising for a public holiday. They lean more toward indie/alternative music.

Yesterday on Gold 104, I heard I’ve Been Around the World by Lisa Stansfield.

Great song

Last night I heard Sway / Bic Runga on Smooth. Fantastic song from NZ. Smooth plays a lot more of these gems than Gold. I find Gold just SO narrow.

Blue Oyster Cult- Godzilla

Britny Fox- Girlschool

Rob Zombie- Dragula

2XX lunch programme today and last Friday. First time I’ve sampled the show, looks to be mostly hard rock and heavy metal.

3KND: Andy Gibb - Shadow Dancing

This one was completely new to me. Very funky. I don’t think I even knew they had solo albums

Extreme Ways - Moby on Triple M 2000s a short time ago. A song best known for featuring in all of the Bourne movies. Very good tune.

Today landed me back in the Gold Coast again (Earthroulette); rather than listen to 94.1 again I decided to go to 4BRZ.

They seem to have gone a little safer to my ears, but these two have just been played back to back:

Missing Persons- Words

Chicago- Baby What A Big Surprise

The thing I really love about Breeze is the mix of old and new. They play music from the 60s to current hits. I love it. They even manage to find the odd Taylor Swift song I actually like! And that’s no mean feat :joy:

A very forgotten 90s female artist was heard on Sydney’s Hope 103.2 tonight.

I loved her main hit “Fall From Grace”, I’ve barely heard that on radio since it’s release in 1997. I still remember hearing that on ROX FM passing through Coffs Harbour way back then.

Funny you should say that, I heard ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ as well and that’s one I quite enjoy. First heard via DX which always helps.

An extremely rare 80s hit just heard

What’s The Colour Of Money - Hollywood Beyond

On 2UUU 92.3 Berry.

I’ve only ever really heard it on this compilation cassette I still have from 1986

That’s a rare one indeed. Might give it a spin on my show next week (the playlist for tomorrow has been done already).

Telephone Booth by Ian Moss spun on Gold 104 just before 6pm this evening. Nice to hear something other than Tucker’s Daughter for a change (no offence intended @dxnerd)

The whole of the Matchbook album is superb.

(As an aside, it’s not often Mold 104 plays a rarer track from an artist than I do. I’ll have to make up for that post haste. But in my own defence, I like to lead off with a barnstorming pop song and TD is that, in spades).
