Was surprised to hear this on Gold a short while ago. Totally 80s on Friday nights still i think.
Refugee - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Placed at #445 on the Triple M countdown. Not the most underplayed song but it’s one I’ve always liked, infinitely better than Free Fallin’ which is one of the most commonly played.
Split Enz - I Hope I Never on Sunshine FM
J-Lo - Waiting for Tonight on Gold tonight. Sounding very Smooth-like.
GNFM ‘Jukebox Saturday Night’ tonight between 8-11pm
Werewolves Of London – Warren Zevon
I Heard A Rumour – Bananarama
Cool For Cats – UK Squeeze
I Wanna Be A Cowboy – Boys Don’t Cry
Forever Young – Alphaville
Baby I Don’t Care – Transvision Vamp
In A Big Country – Big Country
Born To Be Alive – Patrick Hernandez
(Catch Me) I’m Falling – Real Life
Every Little Step – Bobby Brown
When I’m With You - Sparks
867 5309 – Tommy Tutone
Macho Man – Village People
Glad to see they still play this one. I’ve only ever heard it on GN/XL.
Most of the time they are a lot safer, though.
Agree, Saturday nights are a bit more like their old playlist when they had the TGIF 80s.
The Great Pretender - The Platters on ABC Local Radio via 97.3 Illawarra.
Agree. Refugee always got huge airplay in the US, and still does. Much more commonly heard there than Free Fallin’
Well I’m listening to the Vintage FM stream for the first time in many months, and they seem to have improved the audio processing.
The dynamic range compressor is no longer set to the highest possible settings, so the music has a bit more room to breathe.
They could still bump up the bitrate on the stream though.
At Woolworths today, they played Daryl Brathwaite’s singe As the Days Go By. Such an underrated single.
I would have to be my favourite song from Daryl Bratwurst
Split Enz - Hard Act To Follow, heard on ABC Northern Rivers this morning
Body and Soul - Jenny Morris
Lost - The Badloves
On One FM 98.5 Shepparton this afternoon.
Two perfect pop songs. I’ll be going through One FM territory tomorrow so will have a listen.
They played Sunburn by Fuel on the 45 degree day I was driving through there last week, after Thirsty Merc’s Summertime. Very appropriate for the day, and in the case of the Fuel song a forgotten gem of the genre
A 90s Pop flashback just now
‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ by Shanka Twain on Loving Life 103.1 just now
Ain’t Nobody (Classic Paradise remix) - Jaki Graham
Heard during a 12pm “Hit Mashup” on Hit 104.7 on Wednesday. The video version was a straight cover of the Chaka Khan tune, but the remix they played was track 1 on the CD single.
