It’s strange how we’ve become more prudish with censoring (rather than less).
The funniest example of censorship remains the donkey brays in ‘Fire Water Burn’ by the Bloodhound Gang.

I like that one, if i find myself singing that in the shower, I’ll sing “burn mother ekkk awww” because i think it actually sounds better! (and funnier too).
Of course it makes no sense, but most lyrics don’t anyway!
Something For The Pain / Bon Jovi now on Rebel. Probably my favourite Bon Jovi song but doesn’t get played anywhere these days. Except on the Rebel of course.
Good track. One of those ones that got well played in the 90s but is seldomly heard these days.
Ween - Gabrielle
Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker
Both on Rebel 99.4 this morning
A-ha - The Living Daylights
Chris de Burgh - The Getaway
Both on Breeze 100.6 throughout today
A great Machinations double play on 2RE Taree today
Do To You
My Heart’s On Fire
Great to any Machinations song on the radio really.
A Beat For You - Pseudo Echo on Gold 104.3 this afternoon. And shortly before that was a song that I enjoyed but didn’t know the name of, sounded like Simple Minds.
i heari t on triple m a fair bit
You’ll hear those on the other 88.9 as well!
I won’t forgive them for occupying 88.9 up the coast, but it would be nice to stream 2RE!
Odds are, the “great songs” will be more likely to be heard on 88.9 than any other frequency, since it’s home to 2RE, Rebel, Braidwood FM, and until recently, Breeze (or until Eagle Heights gets switched on).
The Retro 20/20 Countdown last night was a good one (“Successful artists who were also one hit wonders”).
The Warrior - Scandal (who themselves werea one hit wonder in Australia but lead singer Patti Smyth had more success as a solo artist).
Concrete And Clay - Martin Plaza (he was more successful as guitarist in Mental As Anything)
Don’t Tell Me The Time - Martha Davis (better known as lead singer of The Motels)
I Don’t Want To Be With Nobody But You - Absent Friends
Emotion In Motion - Ric Ocasek
Welcome Back - John Sebastian (theme tune to Welcome Back Kotter TV show).
I Only Want To Be With You - The Tourists (I never knew Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox were in this band prior to The Eurythmics).
Sea Of Love - The Honeydrippers (who had some famous musos like Robert Plant and Jimmy Page).
Trouble - Lindsey Buckingham
Incredible song seemingly forgotten by Australian programmers despite being a top ten hit in '79.
I heard ‘Shine’ by Vanessa Amorosi at Woolworths today.
Great song but it does scream supermarket song these days lol
Emotion In Motion and Concrete And Clay both remind me of FM104. When they played the softer songs they always seemed to stick in my memory
Absolutely!
Good morning everyone, my name is Hayden Matthew White. This will be my first post on this MediaSpy thread, so here’s some underrated bangers I’ve heard across most of the digital Triple M stations!
Crosby, Stills & Nash “Marrakesh Express” (1969)
The Aliens “Follow That Girl” (1980)
Pink Floyd “Welcome to the Machine” (1975)
Van Halen “Hot For Teacher” (1984)
GANGgajang “Initiation” (1986)
INXS “Shine Like It Does” (1985)
The Damned “Eloise” (1986)
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions “Perfect Skin” (1984)
Poison “Your Mama Don’t Dance” (1988)
Flowers “Walls” (1980)
Some good ones there. That Lloyd Cole And The Commotions song is rarely heard.
A good blast from the past, if only the regular Triple MMM stations still had the Randomisers every hour and the Flock of 80s lunch. I loved hearing some lost to radio tracks at 12:00 in the afternoon!
Welcome my son,
Welcome to the machine…
