Invertigo! There’s a band you certainly don’t hear every day. ‘Desensitised’ was the one of theirs I remember, would have been from that same turn of the millennium era as this one.
Lead singer Christian Argenti went on to be a radio presenter with SEN back in the day, and then the SCA regionals?
They are something of a Conga Line favourite. ‘Desensitised’ is a terrific piece of power pop/rock and one of the last great songs from that genre to hit the charts.
Dreams Of Ordinary Men - Dragon
(on Triple M Newcastle - as part of a ‘Two Up Tuesday’ double play of Dragon songs)
When You Walk In The Room - Paul Carrack
(on 2ST Nowra)
I’m Only Shooting Love - Time Bandits
(on WSFM Sydney)
I love that song! Even the announcer Steve Fitton agreed, he back announced it as a ‘great song’ and also referenced their other hit ‘Endless Road’.
Both those Time Bandits songs are great. They actually did a tour of regional centres back in the early 80s and I saw them play the Maryborough (QLD) showgrounds. The video for Endless Road was shot mostly in Queensland. I think they had more success in Australia than their native Holland.
Earlier This week when I went to Woolworths in Maitland I heard Jamiroquai’s “Corner of the Earth” from their album “A Funk Odyssey” a calm bossa nova banger which only charted at #52 on the ARIA Chart in 2002.
I’ve played ‘Five O’Clock World’ as a SMOKIN’ OLDIE on my show. Great song, even if it doesn’t apply so much these days (most people work beyond 1700!)
