Great songs heard on radio

Crazy also heard on Rebel FM Sunday night.

Some vintage nineties rock heard yesterday on the Rebel:

Better Get a Lawyer - Cruel Sea (1995)
Goldfinger - Ash (1996)
Who Feels Love? - Oasis (1999)

In the mainstream pop department, enjoyed these also - particularly the Pseudo Echo & Genesis singles:

Neutron Dance - Pointer Sisters (1984) on Hot 91.1
Don’t Go - Pseudo Echo (1985) on 97 3 FM [Party Mix]
Throwing it All Away - Genesis (1986) on the Breeze
Smooth Criminal - Michael Jackson (1987) on 102 9 Hot Tomato
Got My Mind Set on You - George Harrison (1987) on River 949

Meanwhile in Sydney & surrounds today:

“Can I Get A Witness?” Sam Brown
"Fashion" David Bowie
"Dr Beat" Miami Sound Machine

All heard during today’s “80s Lunch” on WS.

Elsewhere:

“Hero of The Day” Metallica
"Without You" Silverchair

Both of the above were heard on Triple M this afternoon.

And lastly…

“Just Another Day” Jon Secada - Star 104.5, just before 1pm

A fairly popular 90s track that doesn’t get airplay on Sydney’s commercial FM stations anymore.

Top song, don’t hear it all that often here.

The Animals - Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood (1965) on Gold 104.3’s Party Playlist just before midnight last night

Interesting that Gold 104.3 still plays the odd 60s track on Saturday nights.

AFAIK, WS in Sydney doesn’t play any 60s music anymore, not even on Saturday nights. In fact, the only commercial FM stations in Sydney that play the odd 60s track are Smooth & Triple M.

Quite a few 70s tracks also seem to come out then, in addition to songs outside the 80s (and seemingly 90s and 00s) heavy daytime playlist

Crazy - Icehouse

A great song made greater when you’re in Los Angeles listening to it on San Diego’s 100.7 (oddly named) KFM-BFM.

The US mix sounded a bit different to what I’m used to in Oz though.

Julia - Pavlovs Dog on Breeze last night

the former JackFM up to a few months ago… KFMB call sign - I think KFM BFM is a nice play on it, even if it does sound a little clunky.

A couple from today:

The Trooper - Iron Maiden (Rebel 99.4)
Undone - The Sweater Song - Weezer (Rebel again)
Purple Rain - Prince (Breeze 92.1)

It should also be noted that the latter two of those were played in the afternoon drivetime, when most other stations are busy talking or playing Boulevard of Broken Dreams for the 10 millionth time.

Though to be fair to the competitors, Gold 92.5 have a decent predominantly music-based drive show with Bianca Dye as host. The music range there is colourful enough to be worth listening to as well, but unfortunately for Bianca I just can’t bring myself to list her playing Horses this arvo in this thread

A few from River 94.9 today:
David Lee Roth:“Just a Gigalo” 1985
Doctor and the Medics:“Spirit in the Sky” 1986 remake of the old 70s hit
Little River Band:“Love is a Bridge” 1988
John Lennon:"Instant Karma ",1970
Sonia Dada:“You Ain’t Thinking About Me”,1992,this was their other hit ,no they weren’t one hit wonders,I get sick of hearing “You Don’t Treat Me No Good” all the time

Wow @the Sonia Dada track, it’s a much better song imo. Another one that got spun heavily at the time, at least my six year old self thought it did. I’ll spend $18, at the laundromat or otherwise, to hear it on Sydney radio.

50 Years - Uncanny X-Men

On WSFM’s “80 Minutes Of The 80s” just now.

Played in part due to an interview with lead singer Brian Mannix on his role in the “We Will Rock You” tour.
