Would like to think they can find a female announcer… it’s a very male dominated line up outside of Amanda Keller.
Maybe Gold 101.7 will network Craig Huggins from Melbourne. I cant see why not. Craig has the record for the longest running host on FM Radio I think. He has been with Gold 104.3 since it has been KZ-FM
Criag is also doing afternoons on Cruise 1323 in Adelade
I haven’t listened to check, but from the logs on Lava, it looks like Totally 80s is now on at midday? As every day this week, every song between 12-1 has been from the 1980s.
Mark my words. This WILL happen.
Gold Syd and Melb now share the ONE CD.
They share the ONE MD.
They share the ONE NAME.
Sydney just lost its Mornings announcer.
So with the higher rating KIIS Sydney networking workdays, who else thinks this’ll happen now for Gold Syd and Melb?
They’re chasing the smooth model of sharing everything.
I strongly predict this’ll happen this year.
Ugly Phil’s replacement will highly likely be Gold104.3’s Mornings announcer.
I think we’ve had heaps of speculation on this and we’ve all agreed this is likely.
They need to cut costs to pay for Kyle and Jackie O any way they can.
Ugly Phil has been around long enough to see the writing on the wall.
He knew, due to cost cutting, it was a matter of when, not if, the axe came for his time slot.
Better to jump while another gig was on offer, then stay a few more months and have nothing to go to.
GOLD 101.7 played a new song this morning
Good Luck, Babe by Chapell Roan
So they’re morphing into 2 Day FM now.
I hope not. I don’t want to be too old for Gold.
Another song from 2021 played
I’ve got a feeling - Fillez Finnaz and Legrndary Business
I see nothing wrong with adding new songs if they fit with the format
Agree, Smooth FM does a very good job of it.
But I consider Smooth to be a different format to Gold.
Smooth has always had newer music. They just play the lighter stuff. Gold was always about the Classics.
The stations seem to chop and change. Some with success others with not much change in ratings. Nova seems to have revived all the 90s and early 00s music lately so they’re just sounding like a Gold for the younger generation.
Bit late for that.
I think smooth plays music that’s more easier on the ears (such as Suzi Quatro, the Spice Girls, Ronan Keating and Phil Collins), hence its name while Gold tends to lean towards the rock classics like Nickelback, U2, Bon Jovi and all those rock bands from years past.
Though I have heard at least two Taylor Swift songs on WSFM/Gold including Love Story and Shake it Off.
Well there isn’t a station called “Nearly Dead FM” yet
They dont name stations after your stench…yet.
In 1990-91 KZFM as it was known then (pre-Gold 104.3) mixed current songs with gold as “hits and memories”.
Similar to 4KQ with greatest memories & latest hits.
