How fitting it was also on the 100th birthday of radio in Australia.

Not only that, it was also the 45th birthday of 2WS/WSFM.

It would be nice to hear someone like Stampsy do a shift, it’s a very blokey line up.

Agree @Radiohead, their research is off or non existent. They need more reminders of this, perhaps a trickle of emails from various people suggesting female announcers for variety may coax them along.

Guys - No need for a trickle of emails. I’m all ears. If you know of any great female announcers who fit the format lemme know! If we could clone the likes Toni Tenaglia we absolutely would but this industry has been notoriously unkind to woman over the years which has create a dearth of talent. So be constructive and reach out.

What rubbish! There’s female announcers everywhere if you’re willing to look. Sarah Maree just came off the Ms and would suit it like a glove. The right age bracket too.

Good thought! Thanks for the tip although I think Sarah Maree is Melbourne based.

Also… no need to be a dick about it. You must have missed my request for you to be constructive… clearly I expect too much from this forum.

Anyone else guys?

Whatever happened to Poppy, she was only on WSFM for a short while in late 2021, prior to that she hosted weekend afternoons talk on 2SM.

I liked her, possibly more so for the way she handled some of the 2SM callers, who weren’t always the sharpest tools in the shed.

Ryan sounds like he should be on KIIS.

He does present on KIIS sometimes as well I’ve heard.

Ryan sounds like he should get a surname!

Until about mid nineties all announcers used there full name. I do miss it, now you don’t really have a connection with somebody who is just a Joe or Bill

Agree. These days most breakfast teams are made of names like BJ, Sharpy & Mishy with no idea who they actually are.

WSFM are better at this than most stations though.

Their website does show the full name of most personalities eg. Steve Fitton, Bill Weaver, Phil O’Neill, Christian O’Connell i know I’ve seen Jason Staveley in there too in the past.

The Hit stations are the worst offenders at short or nicknames.

Ryan still presents on KIIS and was formerly The Edge too. Very much a CHR presenter.
