Gogglebox Australia

Would love to see this on P+ with a bit of a refresh. Drop a couple of the more tired families and bring in some more regional diversity - Adelaide/hobart/perth etc

TV Blackbox’s article has some updates with comments.

A Foxtel Group Spokesperson also confirming the news to TV Blackbox saying:

“The TV show about watching people watch TV. Nobody believed in it, but Foxtel did.”

“Since 2015 we have broadcast Gogglebox Australia into our lounge rooms – putting a mirror not only up to Australian television but Australian culture, humour and entertainment. We have laughed, cried and shared many iconic moments together alongside the Gogglebox households.”

“As Gogglebox Australia moves onto its next era, we want to thank our partners at Endemol-Shine Australia and every single family that opened their houses to take part in this wonderful adventure.”

A Network 10 Spokesperson added:

“Next year, there’s only one place to watch Australia’s favourite couch critics. Grab the popcorn and get cosy on the couch, because in 2025 Gogglebox Australia will air exclusively on 10 and 10 Play.”

If the 125k people that watch the show live on Foxtel each week move over to 10, it will be a very big show for the network.

Plus however many on Foxtel catch-up + BINGE.

It gives 10 a chance to air it a few weeks earlier or later in the year, meaning they can start reviewing different shows than just MAFS and survivor on early season vs Block and MKR on later season.

I think this is another sign of the demise of Foxtel. Less funding for local product.

I’m sure there was 20 seasons on Foxtel. Once again the Daily Fail gets it wrong. Terrible excuse for a newspaper.

Never knew that being three-four hours late still counts as an exclusive story, but hey, it’s the Daily Mail after all

Isabelle tells Mamamia she was taken aback by the news, saying she was asked to set aside time for the filming of Gogglebox’s next season. That is, until she received a call that changed everything.

“After being told to keep the first half of next year free for Season 21, receiving the news over the phone that Mum and I’s contract would not be renewed was not something I saw coming,” Isabelle tells Mamamia.

“We were oblivious to the big change that Foxtel were not renewing the show after 10 years and that 10 had picked it up solo.”

Like any abrupt ending, the decision to cut her from the show left Isabelle and her family, particularly her mother, quite “blindsided.”

But despite the sudden revelation they would have to say goodbye to Gogglebox so soon, Isabelle’s biggest disappointment was actually the network’s choice to remove their female perspective from the show.

“It was explained the cut was due to financial costs, however no other families have been cut which left me wondering why and who decided that three generations of women was the right choice to make, especially when the show is already dominated heavily by men’s voices,” she says.

I’m sad to hear that the Silbery’s have been cut from the show but with the move to Ten now is probably the right time to put some new blood in there. It will be interesting to see how far they go with a cast shakeup but I’m thinking they would likely go for 2-3 others as well. I’m in two minds as to who else I’d include in that but definitely one of the male duos and it wouldn’t surprise me if they think some of the originals have had their day.

I wouldn’t be concerned about losing the two original blokes. They’ve had a good run already.

It would be great to find three women in three generations again. Another whole family would be a good addition

I think the Dalton family, Anastasia and Faye, and Mia, Bree and Lainey need to be retained for the female perspective.

They wouldn’t add more people, its going to cost Ten more to run the show and maybe there were too many Melbourne households? or distance to city… could have been a number of things.

It wouldnt surprise me if Jad turns up with his new fiance soon and they ditch matty.

Interesting that Milo & Nick aren’t featured in the promo. Have they been cut too?

Promo really hammering home the exclusivity. Hopefully an audience increase for 10 now that they’ve dispensed with Fox.
