Looks like Sarah has permanently left the show.
I have always hated this description. This is not what defines them. It is ridiculous.
Bit surprised about Isabelle tbh considering she gave birth in December but I guess that shouldn’t stop her doing the things she wants to do
Another opportunity wasted to breathe some new life into the show with some casting changes.
There is also an interview with Isabelle and Kerry in this week’s issue of TV Week, near the back cover.
Not wasted at all.
New cast confirmed:
Behind a pay wall
The new cast are sisters Mia Kelly (26) and Bree Kelly (23), and their friend Lainey Grech (20), all from Sutherland Shire in Sydney’s south. The article says the girls will film a few nights a week from Mia and Bree’s family home.
EDIT: the girls have opened a joint Instagram account for the show. Its handle is mia.bree.lainey
It is indeed.
They certainly need some female perspectives on the show.
GOGGLEBOX AUSTRALIA WELCOMES
BRAND NEW HOUSEHOLD
WEDNESDAY 21 FEBRUARY 2024
Left to right Mia, Bree & Lainey.
FOXTEL today announced Gogglebox Australia will introduce a new household - Mia, Bree and Lainey to join Australia’s favourite armchair critics when the brand-new season premieres Wednesday 21 February on FOXTEL.
Hailing from The Shire in Sydney, this young talented trio are set to enter living rooms across Australia. Mia (26) is a Teachers Aide studying to be a Special Education Teacher, and sister Bree (23) is a dance teacher who teaches contemporary and lyrical dance. Their best friend Lainey (20) is also a dance teacher specialising in just about every style of dance.
The trio have a love of reality TV, anything from The Real Housewives to The Kardashians to Survivor but they also love documentaries and a true crime series and are sure to bring a bit of fun and sass when it comes to dissecting the shows they are watching. Between the three girls they have four Cavoodles Zala, Zeah, Zola and Bailey.
They join the Gogglebox family households of The Delpechitra Family; happily married couple and grandparents Lee and Keith; Greek best friends Anastasia and Faye; and tight knit family of four, The Daltons. Also switching on the television are mother and daughter Kerry & Izzy; best mates and larrikins Adam & Symon; surfing mates and best friends Milo and Nic; brother and sister foodies Tim and Leanne; Matty and his sons Malik and Lyon alongside Uncle Jad; along with friends Kevin, Bob, Jared, and Mia.
Gogglebox Australia is an Endemol Shine Australia (a Banijay Company) production for FOXTEL and Network 10, which airs Gogglebox the following day after FOXTEL, Thursdays at 8.30pm from February 22.
Over the next few seasons they need to be continually adding a new household. I’ve been rewatching old series recently, featuring the Jacksons and later Elias family along with Mick & Di, and Emmy. There is a lack of younger (even the Delpechitra and Dalton ‘kids’ are all adults now) and older people currently. Compared to the UK version it seems to be risk averse and happy keeping to the status quo with casting but if they lose two or three households at the end of a season then they will end up with a bigger problem.
The new Gogglebox household was a good addition tonight. Lots of funny comments.
Mia Strasek-Barker (one of the Indigenous quartet from Brisbane) is taking a break from this season after giving birth to a girl.
So that means there’s another all male household. They probably need another female household or family.
They literally just introduced a new female house.
Yes that’s why I said they need “another” household. That is, an additional one to the one introduced this week. There are currently four all-male households and only two all-female households.
