Preview of promo
The voiceover sounded American, not sure why but I just assumed they were using footage from an overseas version.

That’s a lot of watermarks
It was part of the Football coverage so contains those watermarks.

Yuck… not to crazy with limited audience only to family and crew.
What was the song used in the promo?
Apologies if this has been mentioned but ‘Hammer’ from the original Gladiators will be the referee. I spoke to Liz Ellis at the 10 Upfronts today and thought maybe that was an exclusive but was mentioned on radio in Perth earlier in the day.

Mark McGaw as the referee. Not a bad get

Not exactly on the same level as a John Alexander, Mike Whitney or even Bill Harrigan.
Looking like Ten are doing this on a cheap and nasty.
Is it any surprise ? I’ll watch the first episode on ten play when it comes out in two months and if it does fail well we know that Ten can’t make anything stick or do shows that actually pay homage to the original.
Cheap bastards as always .
Cue Lexington to come abs defend 10🤣
As if. Harrigan was a ref but Mark McGaw was a national representative footballer and TV presenter.

This is very funny…getting mad at the TV show for not hiring a high profile enough ex-sportsman/official to be a referee.
Getting Hammer is a bit of fan service, but why not.
I have no idea what “cheap and nasty” means in this context.

Feel like it’s a cheap shot at 10 by Sifon, as usual. Also since they’re returning to game shows at 6pm and not their prized Simpsons.

Well to me the fact that this seems to be rushed and they are only opening the audience to family members to the crew makes it disappointing.I’m sure some gladiator fans would have loved to have gone to be part of the audience.
So yeah cheap is probably the word I definrtly would use for it.
Rushed? It’s been in the works a while, first reported in media back in July (and probably in pre-production well before then), and not screening until January? Filming is already in the can, likely in post-production now.
Also not having open audience tickets is not exactly new, whilst I appreciate some fans might’ve liked to have been there for nostalgic reasons, it was likely an editorial decision made for reasons we’re not aware but they still had an audience nonetheless.
Not sure I’d describe any of that as cheap, maybe wait until you watch it first before coming to that conclusion?

It still feels cheap but I’ll still watching though .

What an exceptionally odd sounding voice-over, starting in Australian accent then diving deep into a hard American accent.
Seems like a hat-tip to the original Australian Gladiators intro (this is the hour of the Gladiators…")
