General TV History

And here is an opener for Ten News Perth in 2007, some two months before Charmaine Dragun passed away.

And a Ten News Sydney opener from 2006

While the exact same set was used, again different angles were used, though I can recall one time where a shot of the full set was used on the Perth bulletin.

This also would’ve meant double duty for Tim Webster going from presenting the sport on Ten News Sydney to presenting the news on Ten News Perth inside 2.5 hours.

Still love the 2005-08 Ten News look

My bad, apologies. Had a stressful week due to bad colds.
In 2005, Nine struggled at the start of ratings week Due to Various shows like celebrity overhaul, renovate or detonate, bigger money of the price is right in 5pm timeslot. That’s year saw Karl Stefanovic replacing Steve Liebmann as host of today show.

The death of Charmaine Dragun has shocked Network ten Perth in 2007. Followings her death, IIRC, Tim webster was solo of Ten news Perth until it’s final bulletin in Pyrmont Studios in Mid 2008. That year saw Ten news move back to Dianella.

It’s also worth noting, Ten had planned to move production of its Perth bulletin back home more than a month before Charmaine’s untimely death.

Since 2000, TEN News Perth was relocated to Sydney. However, Tim GOssage and Michael Schultz still remained at Dianella Studios where they presented sports and weather respectively.

I wonder what month in 2000 did Ten News Perth move to Sydney (and Ten News Adelaide to Melbourne for that matter). Could’ve been in the early part of the year.

With the Pyrmont studios handling production of both Ten News Sydney and Perth in the noughties, it was conceivable that Tim and/or Charmaine could’ve presented the Sydney bulletin and Ron and/or Deb the Perth bulletin (though to my knowledge this never happened).

Deborah Knight and Bill Woods were regular fill-ins for the Perth bulletin, while there were occasions where Ron Wilson and Charmaine Dragun presented together. I also recall Dragun appearing regularly on the national morning news presented by Natarsha Belling.

In June 2008, perth production was returned back to Dianella studios.
In January 2011, saw Adelaide production return back to their home studios after nearly 11 years at South yarra studios. That year saw TEn News revolution that involves a George Negus current affair show, evening news bulletin, weekend localised news and revamped graphics. as well as this, TEN News has a new voiceover guy who’s voice is quite low. The TEN News Revolution was very expensive and saw lots of shows getting axed.

Some food for thought, Network Ten should hire Matt O’Sullivan (who voiceovers Nine’s news promos and bulletins, and promos for 60 Minutes) to voice-over their news bulletins. This would give the 10 News First brand some authority IMO.

Matt O’Sullivan used to voice Channel 7 shows in the 90s but since 2011, does voiceovers for 60 Mins and 9 News.

Had Sullivan moved to 10, this would mean Steve Britten doing voiceovers for 9 News. I can recall steve britten doing voiceovers for 9 Perth as he was a Perth-born bloke.

And I think we are now getting a tad off topic with the hypothesising.

One wonders if the station now known as Seven Adelaide would still be number 1 if it didnt switch frequencies in December 1987, in what was dubbed The Great TV Swap.

I remember 2003 as the year Seven retired their “the one to watch” campaign and replaced it with the short-lived “Lucky Number Seven”.

Seven would still be No1 if they didn’t swap. I would imagine ADS-7 had a decent share pre 1987.

The Quiz Show was extended to accomodate the 60min schedule (including commercials) in the first DoND

Today, National Nine News, Ten News and Seven News Melbourne content from December 2/3 2003. Features the unique, short-lived Nine look (lasted about a year) and fill-in presenter for Mal Walden, Max Futcher presenting with Jennifer Hansen on Ten.

My motel tonight in Orange is almost just across the road from the old Prime7 Orange studios (there’s a redevelopment sign on the left of picture).

Also note the big vertically polarized TV antenna in the background, presumably used to monitor the CWN 6 signal from Mt Cenn Crauich in the Warrumbungles.

That’s presumably what makes it PRIME commercial development land.
