Is Mildura not covered under the new statewide WIN bulletins?
Edit: XMLEPG says no.

WINâs own guide says yes though ![]()
Yes, BUT Mildura does not even appear on the Newsâs weather map or forecastsâŚTalk about feeling left out.
Can someone drive out there and spend a night in a by-the-hour motel in Gol Gol and tell us? Send to bill to Mediaspy ![]()
Griffith/MIA looks like itâs part of the Wagga Wagga/Central West bulletin too.
Iâve got some annual leave saved up.
Iâm sure you can hear the crickets chirping over the border with WIN SA not even having 2 minute noodle updates, let alone a statewide news program!
Yeah Iâd take my guides with a grain of salt until I iron out some issues. Mildura still using metro guides for Nine is the reason, as when they had Nine before changeover it matched metro.
So youâre saying I canât put the holiday on @bacco007âs credit card? Bugger.
Yeah, good luck with that
I donât think so.
This article from ABC News mentions new regions that would be receiving the new WIN News format and Mildura is not mentioned.
â The new bulletins will broadcast into the additional areas of Mackay, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Orange, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Griffith and Albury-Wodonga.
Previously TV bulletins were produced for the Shepparton, Bendigo, Ballarat and Gippsland regions in Victoria.â
I could probably drive to Ouyen or Robinvale one Friday night and see if their is anything both about an 90 minutes away just hard to justify to the wife
the current government is not likely to be interested in offering more money to the ABC as an election promise.
10-11 year old me would have liked to keep the regional brandings. When I first heard about aggregation coming I thought it would be sad to lose the regional identities. Like with the increasing homogenisation of radio brands across the country (e.g. Hit, Triple M, even ABC Local Radio is now all the same branding), I think itâs sad that regional TV branding is now just a copy of the metros.
While I definitely agree itâs sad that iconic local/regional media names have increasingly been phased out in favour of standardised national ones over the past few decades, this branding trend is hardly one thatâs unique to broadcast media.
Once upon a time, Myer was known as Grace Bros in NSW. Woolworths was Safeway in Victoria. Event Cinemas used to be either Greater Union or Birch Carroll & Coyle depending on where you lived. And the list goes on and onâŚ
A simple phone call to the reception desk asking if they air the news would be sufficient ![]()
true, itâs happening everywhere. All about so-called cost efficiencies and âsynergiesâ and so onâŚ
Yes, it definitely costs money to do the extra work of making another version of every promo with a different logo and voice-over, and to maintain another website & social media presences with that other name, logo, etc.
Iâd rather they spend the money on local content instead of re-branding nonsense, but that hasnât been happening either. Itâs always cut more, and it either goes to more profits or to reduce the losses.
Still called Village in VIC thanks.
Greater Union still existed in Victoria until the time the GU Russell Cinemas (the only GU-branded cinema complex in Victoria) closed in 2013.
Ten Capital in Canberra had a polished metro-quality âTen Newsâ bulletin in the 1990s with a mixture of local and national/international news read by professional news readers such as Geoff Hiscock, Rosemary Church and Greg Robson. It did not look at all like a hokey rural local news back then. Too bad SCA bought Ten Capital and axed it!

But of course, the cinemas in Victoria & Tasmania are under the ownership of Australian Theatres (the Village Roadshow/Event Hospitality & Entertainment joint venture) compared to the other states & territories which have fully EH&E-owned cinemasâŚwhere the branding differences used to exist.
