Foxtel

I hope that’s not going to be the name for it. They should revive the Presto brand name which they took over and shut down. That was a perfectly suitable name for a streaming service.

Kayo was known as “Project Martian” before it was announced. The article only states the new service, like Kayo, is unlikely to carry Foxtel branding.

Maybe it will be just called Streamotion? It is the name of the Foxtel owned company that owns Kayo.

From IP Australia:

Isn’t that the name of the company they set up to administer the streaming services? I remember seeing it listed as the owner for Kayo.

It probably won’t be named that. It’s not very app friendly. They’ll go with something short and to the point. I just hope it doesn’t have “flix” in it!

Kim will start on her new role on April 8.
Big loss for Cricket Australia which so far has not commented on Kim’s departure.

Not a big loss at all for Cricket Australia. Kim’s American-ism attempts for the Big Bash (from her time handling the Superbowl no doubt) were ridiculous and her poor press performances when justifying the expansion of BBL and scheduling were tenuous at best. Hopefully the next BBL head cares more for the sport and less about the $$.

Since when has cricket cared about the sport and not the money? What 1976 when they told Packer they don’t need his money?:face_with_monocle:

Jane The Virgin - Season 5

From Thursday 11 April

The eagerly-awaited final season of the critically-acclaimed hit series Jane The Virgin will be available to stream from Thursday April 11 on Foxtel. The fifth season of Jane The Virgin will also be available to watch Thursday April 11 at 9:30pm AEST on FOX8.

Starring Gina Rodriguez as Jane Villanueva, the romantic comedy drama hooked fans from season one, when a devout 23-year-old Latina virgin, named Jane, became pregnant after an accidental artificial insemination by her gynaecologist. Now in its fifth and final season, Jane The Virgin is set to deliver even more fast and furious surprises.

Season four saw our Jane (Rodriguez) falling back in love with her baby-by-accidental-insemination-daddy, Rafael ( Justin Baldoni ). And she published her first book! Unfortunately, it didn’t exactly fly off the shelves, but Jane pushed on and had her biggest writing breakthrough yet, combining her grandmother’s story, her mother’s story, and her own into a multigenerational love story.

Speaking of Villaneuva women, the matriarch of the family Alba ( Ivonne Coll ) had a huge year! She began dating again, became sexually liberated, became an American citizen and got married! And Xiomara ( Andrea Navedo ) certainly had a big year as well. At first, she found herself struggling to adjust to life as a married woman. But she and Rogelio ( Jaime Camil ) worked through their issues. And then, just as Xo started to get her groove back, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After choosing to have a mastectomy, she started to go through chemo, which was tough. But she’s stayed strong, with her husband’s support… Which brings us to her husband, Rogelio. First, he had a baby (named “Baby”) with his ex-girlfriend Darci (guest star Justina Machado ). And then he decided to become a stay-at-home Danny (Dad + Nanny = Danny). But that lasted a month and he couldn’t resist the siren call of the cameras when the network decided they wanted to remake “The Passions of Santos” for American TV. Unfortunately, that remake came with strings; it had to costar his latest, fiercest nemesis, River Fields (guest star Brooke Shields ).

Which finally brings us to…Petra ( Yael Grobglas ), who was accused of murder! Again! But Petra denied it and hired a lawyer named Jane Ramos aka JR (guest star Rosario Dawson ). And then, she and JR fell in love! And when Petra’s life was threatened, JR ran to her rescue, and wrestled the gun away from her would be attacker. But the gun went off! Leaving us with the classic cliffhanger – “Who did JR shoot”?

Jane The Virgin is produced by CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, in association with Electus, with executive producers Jennie Snyder Urman (“Emily Owens, M.D.”), Ben Silverman (“The Biggest Loser”), Brad Silberling (“Charmed”), Gary Pearl (“10.5: Apocalypse”), Jorge Granier (“Que el Cielo Me Explique”), Lewis Abel (“Cougar Town”), David Rosenthal (“The Middle”), Gina Rodriguez (“Miss Bala”) and Paul Sciarrotta (“Reckless”). The series is distributed worldwide by CBS Studios International.

Jane The Virgin streams from Thursday April 11 on Foxtel and watch at 9:30pm AEST on FOX8.

I am probably in the minority here, but I hope FOXTEL survives in its current form (or not be too different).

I wouldn’t like to have to rely on streaming for live sport. The Optus World Cup debacle from last year is still etched in my memory.

I’m sure it will survive ten are in more in of a State of a mess then Foxtel in my opinion. It’s usuakky those who can’t afford it are the ones screaming foxtels in the end…

i would like foxtel to survive too. but the way it is the moment i dont think it will. to foxtel loyalty means nothing i am long term subscriber and still pay alot for nothing, where new members get a huge discount almost 50% of what iam paying atm . For foxtel to continue they need to keep charges across the whole board not just aiming at new subscribers. ie there how much we pays needs to be at the discount and give the discount to every one. The reason why people are leaving is because once the discount period is finished it goes up and never stays the same and people cant justify paying more for less content . and i think in the end it should just go to streaming and leave the leaner side of things out

Your best bet is to call Foxtel, threaten to cancel and see what deal they offer you.

They’re offering free IQ4 for cable customers with the cable network to be shut down in the middle of next year given that NBN now owns the Telstra cable network.

Foxtel is a disaster and way too expensive. Even foxtel now is overpriced for streaming the channels. They need to be dismantled. The structure is all wrong and they’ve paid far too much for sport and exclusive content like hbo
.

The only ones that seem to be complaining at price are generally the ones who don’t have the funds to fund it clo. Price is hefty as it’s a premium service. If you want premium service you pay for it. Fair deal if you ask me. If you can’t afford it you go somewhere else.

I’ve had it for over 12 years and can afford it but I still think it’s overpriced for what you get. I’d rather have all that content for half the price at least.
