Foxtel

No great loss, felt like a filler channel.

It will be Foxtel’s first upfront under DAZN ownership.

The “yesterday” in the screenshot is today (5/8/25 for those reading in the future, or the past if you have a time machine)

Lots of sloppy typos in David’s articles lately.

Are these music channels on foxtel now boxes?

Thanks guys.

On air now.

Full screen graphics are better than the old Stingray ones, but sadly the playlists/channels themselves are not!

And I bet these streams are full of ads!

They are! The Stingray ones had no ads.

Another fail from FOXTEL.

So much they’ve changed in the last year or two has been a backwards step.

And I got an email saying the price is going up another $5 pm… it has me thinking of cancelling.

Are they just relays of the DAB channels with some graphics tacked on?

Probably… i haven’t compared feeds but that was my thinking too.

And if you go by the complaints on a Facebook group dedicated to that, even news bulletins. So probably straight DAB feed it is then.

This is superior to 30 Stingray channels (programmed by an Australian, mind you) and 2,000+ Vibes channels on the app?

These would be programmed by Australians too, seeing as they’re operated by SCA and based off of Australian radio brands (Triple M and hit).

Yes, but overly safe in doing so… The Stingray music programming was much more preferable to my ears, and was something not already available on FM or DAB.

Just had a listen to some of the Listnr channels on Foxtel and they are extremely loud, much louder than all other Foxtel channels. Not only that, but they seem very compressed, and remind me of some AM stations in the 1980’s. Given that Foxtel is a premium product (i.e. you have to pay for it), I would expect the music channels to be more premium sounding than that, or even just ordinary sounding (i.e. same volume as TV channels, 86 the compression).

I’ve noticed that too.

On Tuesday at 1pm it looks like the Famous channel will have a Seinfeld marathon.

According to the online guide, looks like Famous may be closing on that day and becoming a Seinfeld pop-up. The rest of the fortnight is just Seinfeld.

So I guess Binge and Foxtel’s entertainment channels are safe for now?
Surely you wouldn’t hire a new ED if you were going to gut that part of the business, as has been speculated since DAZN acquired Foxtel.
