More content going without anything new coming in.
I still have Foxtel mostly out of habit and ease but it’s not something I’d sign up for if I didn’t already have it. I mostly just use it these days for the news channels, occasionally flick between the music channels and there is the odd Arena show that I watch. Even Arena which I used to watch a lot, outside of the tentpole Bravo reality shows it lacks content. They constantly play old Wheel of Fortune US episodes but Ten have the new ones so it just feels tacky. It will be interesting to see what DAZNs plans are going forward.
Speaking of which, it’s about time MTV 80s got some new breakers. They’ve been running the same three back to back for months now. So tedious. Some new tracks wouldn’t go astray either.
I much preferred the general classics channel, as having 80s on loop isn’t for me. I guess it likely appeals to a lot of MTVs older subscribers though. I just wish they had a channel that played Aussie music. It seems a miss.
Yeah, switching on the iQ and channel surfing without having back in/out of streams on eg. Kayo is so much easier.
But if the live channels on eg Kayo using Android TV etc were IPTV based streams and be assigned a channel number so you could go up/down or enter in a channel number on an app (like you do now on a iQ remote) and go straight to it would be a game changer for me.
I always had this thought but I must say if you get a good device like a fire stick or Google streamer and figure out how to use it effectively it will be just like use the Iq except different and with alot more content.
I’ve been watching US cable tv lately and it’s no better. Most channels are playing years old re runs, with most content not even representing what the channel is.
I’m seeing Yellowstone and 1883 on multiple channels, probably the only way for the paramount owned channels to fill up the programming.
Off the satellite no (well as little as everyone outside the stadium gets), but all streaming has some latency (it’s getting better but it’s still there).
One other thing is, if you watch 4k instead of HD on Foxtel there is a few second’s delay. But when you compare this to FTA the delay can seem bigger than it is.
Yes, but even back when 4k first started and was Sat based not IPTV it had the slight delay and from memory I think the delay was a lot worse back then.
Fox Sports UHD 1 and 2 are still on the satellite (also available via IPTV), 3, 4 and 5 are IP only.
Foxtel say you need an internet connection for all because they’re not going to explain this (well, they weren’t showing the channels in the guide for a long while there either).
The original 444 channel was on the satellite, same with 508 when they launched the movie channel (I forget what the Rugby World Cup channel was in 2019 but that was the same).
They originally had a movie and a Foxsports UHD channel, but they were both on sat these are still running to day. The movie one these days is obviously for sports only.
