^^ And then there’s this. They have pretty much screwed them selfs now. They’re pretty much like an old wooden box that’s about to fall apart.
Foxtel have signed a new deal with UFC and will have UFC PPV events exclusively on Main Event
Out of interest, has anyone done a count on the number of linear channels Foxtel has lost in the last year, or maybe two.
Obviously the way people are consuming Foxtel with on demand is changing, but the old school rusted on linear audience is definitely going to need to adapt
I dread to think lol.
So what, there now going to launch an existing device that is already two years old and start selling streaming services in bundles?
It looks like MTV 80s is being run in stretched 4:3
Could be a setting on the IQ to run in 4:3 stretched or pillar box
So they’re copying the 80s Now channel.
Well it’s a chicken and egg situation. MTV 80s has been part of MTV’s European lineup for a while now. Classic will probably return at a later date anyway as it seems to do really well in Australia and NZ and it’s left and returned twice now IIRC.
I saw this stretched on the Foxtel Now app, I wonder when this will be fixed, no one is going to watch a stretched feed.
News Ltd’s 4th quarter earnings show total Foxtel Subscriptions have risen to 4.650m (paid) - up 5% on 2022. Set top boxes are down to 1.574m, while Kayo (1.401m) and Binge (1.487m) are all up.

Linear still makes money.
As long as it’s still making money they want to exit gradually
Curious as to how Foxtel handles Flash, they keep hiding it’s numbers, which is a sure sign that uptake is dwarfed by Kayo and Binge.
It’s not even a case of saying, subscribers up x % without even saying the original subscriber number, it’s just become the member of the family no one likes to talk about.
Flash is probably rivalled in paid subscriber numbers by WatchAFL and WatchNRL international streaming services which are both (technically) under Foxtel.
Flash should be free and purely supported by advertising. You don’t see News packages on traditional subscription services - they’re always part of an entry level tier. If it can’t be purely free then at least make Sky News and ABC News free and make the other complimentary and international services available for under $5 per month.
