Foxtel

PBS Kids is no big loss. I imagine not many subscribers watch the channel.

Didn’t they only just get PBS kids a few years ago?

Bloody Foxtel. They’ll expect us to pay the full $30 for Kayo even though they’ve lost a huge chunk of content.

BeIN is $20 a month. Get f**ked.

2 years ago. 2 july 2021. suspect it was only a 2 year deal.

The loss of BeIN is more of a blow than PBS - a ton of football gone for starters

Yeah, I know it sucks. It’s basically just a very expensive way to have a good PVR.

For a lot of people, the beIN content leaving the platform will change their cost/benefit ratio as to whether to retain Kayo or not - while I’m not happy that it’s going, it doesn’t really change that for me. I might consider subscribing to beIN’s service separately ($111 for the first year is decently compelling if there is some guarantee that the service will stick around for the majority of that year and I’m lucky to be in a position where I can drop that with little worry, but I fully appreciate others aren’t).

Frankly I can’t see beIN sticking around, unless they get flocked with subs for Connect, their content offerings are good but it may not be compelling enough for many to justify an additional spend

Again, to watch the sport I’m watching, I’d have to pay at least $100 a month. It’s becoming a joke.

These services and the sports leagues need to wake up to themselves. They can pull their belts in like everyone else.

The days of single-provider content are long gone and I’d suggest that there is a real possibility that it’s going to get more fragmented as sports discover they can in fact go it alone rather than partnering with a media company.

For some sports, it’s far from an ideal situation - but I’m not sure there is an ideal situation here, we complained back in the single-provider days about the availability and access, and now we complain because it’s so fragmented - not quite sure there a reasonable middle ground here.

Surely there is more to this. I’m very surprised they would remove this without getting some sort of content back for Foxtel/Kayo.

Especially with the price increase coming.

Either a football league that is about to expire on BeIn Sport or a sublicense deal with Optus for an EPL game.

Is there any inside information on how Foxtel decides some channels aren’t worth having for them anymore?

I mean from the streaming services they would be able to see how many are users are connected and what they are watching.

Do the internet enabled IQ boxes deliver viewing information back to HQ??

Maybe there is more to the Optus Sports App being added, native Optus Sports with 4k EPL / La Liga to be added in the coming months. I can dream

Isn’t it about time FOXTEL gave customers who still have old Pace STB that is SD only an upgrade to an entry level HD box so they could get rid of the HD/SD simulcasts? There probably aren’t many still in use anyway?

They could save on satellite bandwidth costs or better still, use that for more HD or 4K channels.
