A spokesperson for Foxtel later said that Delany’s remark was meant to be self-deprecating, telling Crikey, “The aim was to convey that for him, Games of Thrones was something very different for television in 2011 and that Emilia Clarke went from relatively unknown to one of the most recognised and most-loved actors in television and film.

What?

I read it as, he was trying to say she went from being unknown to a well known person than being referred to the “short dumpy girl”

I do agree the termininoligy used here is pretty bad though.

Emmy® and Golden Globe-winning Comedy Series

“Playing the role of Larry David has been the greatest honor of my life. In researching this multi-faceted, multi-talented man, I discovered that there’s more to him than I ever could have imagined: He speaks six languages, brines his own pickles, and spearheads a national movement to install a bidet in every home. I’ve also been told from numerous sources that he is the most generous of lovers. I am so excited to once again transform into this force of nature. I only pray that I can do him justice.” – Larry David

I noticed today that 7mateHD is finally available on channel 257 on my Foxtel box in Canberra.

It’s been available via 7 Regional over the air (channel 64) since before the Commonwealth Games but Foxtel didn’t update boxes and assign it a channel number here during the Games so it couldn’t be watched through a Foxtel box. Not sure how long it’s been available but it wasn’t there when I last looked about a week ago.

How does Foxtel allocate the FTA simulcasts? Is 7mate SD on 157 and 7mateHD on 257 even as a HD subscriber? Or are they meant to swap the 1xx SD position for HD like they do with their own channels?

If you are a HD subscriber you need to select the HD channel for terrestrial TV channels; Foxtel don’t swap them like their own HD channels.

I didn’t know that. Thanks @TV.Cynic

Also, you don’t need a HD package to watch FTA HD channels on Foxtel.

Imagine if they did charge you to. Would be pretty outrageous.

When I was grabbing at iQ2 purely for the HD FTA channels (we didn’t have an antenna at that time, only Foxtel cable) I asked the phone rep whether we needed the HD package for the FTA channels. They said they didn’t know but were more than happy to sign us up to it now to be safe than sorry. Idk if it was just my rep but they probably use the FTA HD channels as a selling point for the HD package, even though you don’t need it.
