Foxtel

Yep, not including an ethernet cable would be saving a fortune for the ones that don’t get used - just like many printers don’t include the USB cables, monitors don’t include the VGA or HDMI cables and Apple doesn’t even include chargers anymore with many of their devices.

Yet they did provide a cable to connect to the Foxtel wall plate something that was clearly not needed when it was to replace the Foxtel cable with internet.

Another problem that arose was that a pin was required to be entered for every channel used for up to 24 hours according to the help person.

when I moved into my current place (around 10 years ago) I called to organize Foxtel. as I am in an HFC area they sent out a cable installer who discovered my lead-in conduit was crushed and they could not run the cable.

they ended up installing satellite (which i’m glad they did) and when they installed HFC NBN here they ended up using a hole borer and putitng a new lead in down

The Australian has a similar report today, also mentioning Warner Bros’ programming deal with Foxtel is set to expire in 2023.

Does this affect Fetch too?

It would do - it’s worth noting that the channel was actually a joint venture between TBS and Hillsong - which ended earlier this year

World War II and Cinema are inextricably linked. It was the first time that the film industry had to tackle a conflict as it was being fought. Films were made to boost public morale, and as a highly effective form of propaganda. Despite the dangers of bombings, cinema attendance actually rose during the war years, as the public looked for any chance to escape the harsh realities of the time. And long after the war’s end, directors have continued to return to the subject, to the point where so much of the conflict has been brought to the big screen; the horrors, and the heroism; the great battles, and the incredible personal stories. When Hitler did eventually invade Russia in 1941, it took the Soviets entirely by surprise – until this point, the two nations had been freely cooperating. What followed was a campaign of unparalleled barbarism, on a scale of destruction unmatched in history. The Red Army’s disastrous initial response would gradually be turned around through elemental spirit, enormous human sacrifice and strategic intuition. Some of the most famous battles in the history of warfare would pan out through this epochal struggle. Eventually, the Soviet ‘steamroller’ would turn things around, repelling the invaders, recapturing scarred, lost territory, and marching all the way to Berlin, where the Hammer and Sickle would fly from the Reichstag; the Untermensch now standing astride Hitler’s capital. The partition of Berlin would follow, setting the scene for the Cold War and 50 years of Communist domination in Eastern Europe.

After 21 years with Foxtel I canceled my subscription as I am moving house. What a “functional” experience.

The local restaurant and takeaway, AGL, gym and even my strata plan thanked me and let me know to reconnect at any time / if I move back to Surry Hills.

Foxtel gave me five days to return my IQ box and then hung up.

They really should appoint a “customer experience manager”. If you are providing customers with a phone number, at least be nice to them.

For 21 years, watching Foxtel was a good experience. Disconnecting was an underwhelming and robotic letdown. I obviously don’t matter to them. I am not an overly sensitive person, but my last three breakups were less upsetting.

Foxtel - you are a cold beast. If Foxtel was a person, they would have no real friends.
