This iq5 is about friggen time! I don’t think some people realise just how many people can’t get Foxtel via satellite/cable and the current internet option (Foxtel Now) is inferior in every way.
Probably too late given all the streaming competition around these days.
The trick now is for Foxtel to fix their streaming offerings - Foxtel Now is a bit of a shambles
Sure is and the little box device is so shit. It’s unstable and needs constant rebooting snd the remote is crap as well
I live at a resort, the only way to get Foxtel is to pay bodycorp to have some channels unlocked (holiday makers get them free) I’ve seen the channels and the quality is horrible and looks analog.
It likely is. It’s a proper Foxtel signal to the building, and then transmitted via analogue to you. I’m at a resort now and most of the Foxtel is in HD thankfully. First time I’ve ever seen Foxtel in HD at a hotel/resort.
I just popped my address in and it’s offered me iq5.
arghhh they’re still offering me iQ4! How do I get iQ5? We can’t install a satellite because of the fact I’m in a rental!
The landlord won’t allow it?
It’s one of the biggest problems with Foxtel’s satellite platform which this new streaming platform will finally overcome. I’m surprised they never came up with a self install that doesn’t require body corporate or landlord permission. A simple portable dish with clear instructions. Apps these days make satellite tuning really easy with gyroscope tech that can pinpoint the satellites in the sky with ease.

Would have been better if it was the Movie channels though.
Because the majority of landlords are usually ok with having a satellite installed in their homes for tenants. It’s not a cost to them and keeps tenants in the property.
I’m not sure why you would say no anyway.
In a private house rental where there’s no body corporate I’d say it’s a straightforward yes/no from the landlord which is probably a yes most of the time.
Body corporate properties though are a very different kettle of fish from my own experience. From my own experience a few years ago when I was renting a unit, I approached the landlord soon after moving in about installing Foxtel and while she was agreeable, she had to get body corporate approval as well before it could go ahead. This body corporate was certainly very efficient at dealing with things, to the point where by the time I left 2 years later it was still pending approval (even with reminders every few months from both myself and the landlord). Based on that I’d say I certainly wasn’t alone being in that boat of waiting on a body corporate to approve or reject.
I never bothered to ask the owners, neither did my parents. Was never an issue. They never notice.
I love in an apartment block in the City of Sydney LGA. I am on satellite but the entire block shares the one dish.
Sounds like a pretty intense splitter system then.
You are getting way too technical for me!
I only found out when the satellite was damaged several years ago and I lost pay TV for two weeks whilst we waited for repairs.
