Fox Sports

The problem with this argument/logic is a pay TV sports service can’t function solely by relying on ‘tier one’ sports.

It’s not about the airing those sports. It’s about paying top $ for sports. You’ll have leagues for instance the NBL paying for production and entering into a revenue share for the broadcast

the NBL offered to pay Fox Sports for showing but Fox rejected it, so they went to ESPN instead. The only reason Fox is showing the WNBL and the W-League is the money given to them by the Federal Government ($40 million) to show women’s and minority sports.

Interestingly, I only found out a few months ago that the Women’s game is still run by Basketball Australia whereas the NBL is run by Larry Kessleman - BA were keen to see if Kessleman would take on the womens game as well at one point

Good spot. Although in their defence, The Australian Open might as well have been in 1999, that’s how long ago it feels given the events of the year.

V8 Supercars 2020: Foxtel, Fox Sports announce new broadcast deal until 2025

Foxtel has struck a new broadcast deal with Supercars who will remain with the pay TV provider until 2025.

Every Supercars session will continue to be shown on Foxtel and Kayo Sports as part the five-year agreement announced on Thursday.

The deal will make Fox Sports the longest continuous broadcast partner for the sport in Supercars era, which began in 1997.

Foxtel Group chief Patrick Delany said in a statement that he’s pleased to extend the partnership as motorsport grows in popularity with subscribers.

“Motorsport has never been more popular in Australia,” Delany said. “Overall our motorsport audiences are up by 35 per cent this year compared to 2019, with streaming growth for the category on Foxtel Now, Foxtel GO and Kayo up 82 per cent.

“Supercars are quintessentially Australian, and the Championship is a core part of our motorsport offering attracting huge audiences in its own right. The iconic Bathurst 1000 recorded the highest rating day in subscription television history in 2019.

“While the 2020 season has faced disruptions from COVID-19, the team at Supercars have done an outstanding job of keeping their loyal and passionate fan base entertained and most of all producing world-class competition.

“We are looking forward to bringing Supercars to our growing legion of motorsport fans like no one else can over the next five years.”

He added: “Our relationship with Supercars dates back to 2015, and along with Formula One and MotoGP, has established Foxtel as the home of Australia’s premium motorsport experience while Kayo has opened up motorsport to a new audience of streaming viewers.”

Under the agreement, at least half of each season will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Sports.

Interesting / brave move when we don’t know what it will it will look like without Commodores in it.

So why are the networks asking for less money to pay sporting bodies when they are actually having more viewers watch them?:shushing_face::rofl:

It the advertisers//companies fault. How silly of me, I’ll show myself out.

Probably bring in a Chevrolet of some kind.

Or a dunny on wheels. I don’t know.

It’s worked for Ford in recent years.

I don’t think it will be the same if it’s a car that isn’t being sold here.

I don’t think fans will support that.

Well they’re not making Commodores anymore. If GM wants to be part of Supercars, it’s not going to be a Holden. I could see it reverting to something similar to the old Group A regulations with some twists.

The fixture for this year’s Rugby Championship was released this afternoon, and New Zealand Rugby is not happy that the All Blacks’ final match against the Wallabies will be on December 12, meaning players and staff will have to spend Christmas in isolation. New Zealand Rugby will work through the issues with Rugby Australia and SANZAAR. I think a possible solution is to play the game on Wednesday, December 9, then the All Blacks players and staff will return to NZ the next day and undergo 14-day isolation, meaning they will be reunited with their families on Christmas Eve.
The tournament commences November 7 in Brisbane and ends on December 12. Every match will be shown live on Fox Sports.
