Fox Sports’ Super Rugby score graphics have been tweaked to include club symbols:
I think this will also apply to NRL and AFL.
Talking about cuts at Fox Sport, this picture from today’s game at the Oval.
Fox Sports have approx 14people plus commentators; Seven have 5 people plus commentators.
Not that I want people out of jobs, but Fox sports has massive overheads with the amount of staff they have for tonight’s game.
Graphics still look bad.
Revised fixture for the women’s Olympic football qualifiers in Sydney this month:
The matches involving the Matildas will be shown live on Fox Sports and on delay on ABC.

Not really a triple header as the matches take place on 3 different days!
Fox Sports can’t afford to keep on air staff but are making offers to buy rights to niche sports. One minute they hate rugby now they’re trying to buy Shute Shield rights from state body and Seven.
The one and only game on Free to air would be on delay. Again, a stupid thing to do if this ever comes to pass.
Doubt the proposal will come to pass considering a) Seven have a deal with Club Rugby TV (the body who manages the shield rights) until 2024 and b) Rugby Australia wanting to include club rugby as part of the overall rugby rights package they’ll be putting to tender
I hope Fox don’t show every game!
As I film a fair few of the Two Blues Games for a company I contract for, so that would be a real shame
So it appears this was part of a plan Fox had to secure the RA rights
The Australian is reporting tonight that Fox Sports is set to walk away from rugby union, ending a 25-year broadcasting partnership with Rugby Australia. The article is behind the paywall though.
Similar situation to NZ where fans who want to watch the Blackcaps play in summer from next summer will have to subscribe to Spark Sport NZ
Fox Sports is set to walk away from rugby union, ending a 25-year broadcasting partnership that began when the game turned professional.
Months of talks between Fox Sports and Rugby Australia came to a halt on Wednesday, and the struggling code will likely have to make a deal with Optus.
Sources revealed RA chief executive Raelene Castle and Foxtel boss Patrick Delaney have not spoken face to face in weeks, although emails had been traded.
Daily Tlegraph reporting tonight (probably for tomorrow’s paper) that Fox made what was effectively a $200m (for 5 years) bid last year and allegedly got no response from RA. (The SANZAR rights are done in USD, The package was a continuation of the previous~$125m USD deal)
Same article also claims Fox wanted to retain exclusivity over live Super Rugby
It’s a bit like the cricket deal. Fox walked away but managed to renegotiate with 7
This article makes clear Fox’s big problem - “they were incensed that RA didn’t accept their first offer”.
The arrogance is astounding. They also want exclusivity when RA want some games on free to air to help grow the game if at all possible. Hopefully for RA’s sake they come to some arrangement with Optus and Ten that will show you don’t need Fox for coverage.
