Fox League

Does anyone out there know how the commentary rosters go? Is it based on timeslot, location or how big the game is? Me and a mate were discussing and couldn’t work it out.
I see Vossy takes the Thursday, Saturday 7:30 and either a Friday or Sunday game?

World-cup-9s-500x500

It will be raining tries on FOX LEAGUE, on Foxtel, this week when Sydney’s Bankwest Stadium hosts the inaugural Downer Rugby League World Cup Nines on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19.

Twelve countries from around the globe will compete on the men’s side of the draw with Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and England to battle it out for the women’s title.

FOX LEAGUE will ensure fans don’t miss a second of the action with all 28 games over the two days, LIVE, ad-break free during play and in HD.

NRL excitement machines Kalyn Ponga, Shaun Johnson, Jason Taumalolo and Maika Sivo and English Super League stars George Williams, Sam Tomkins and Kevin Naiqama will be among the players competing at the tournament.

Coverage begins at 5.50pm AEDT on Friday when FOX LEAGUE’s Yvonne Sampson and former Australian test stars Greg Alexander, Kevin Walters and Braith Anasta combine to preview all the action.

Warren Smith, Andrew Voss and Dan Ginane will be joined in commentary across the two days by a who’s who of rugby league including Corey Parker, Brett Finch, Steve Roach and Luke Lewis.

FOX LEAGUE analyst Corey Parker said: “You can guarantee that the action will be fast paced this weekend.

“When you look at the squads there are x-factors across the board and there are a host of young guys who will get the chance to prove themselves on the big stage as well.

“With the addition of bonus zone tries, 20-40 kicks and dropkick conversions, anything could happen.

“I’m looking forward to the women’s games as well and seeing the likes of Kezie Apps, Ali Brigginshaw and Isabelle Kelly with some extra room to move.”

The Downer Rugby League World Cup Nines is part of Foxtel’s “Summer Fest,” a massive line-up of the hottest entertainment featuring the world’s best live sport, drama, movies and shows all in the one place this summer.

Is it on free to air

No, it’s on pay TV only.

That’s crap I just admit

who covered the aus nz match for fox? and who also did the england tonga match?

Sky did the Tonga vs GB was called by a Dale Husband
Andrew Voss called the the Aus vs NZ game

Wonder if GEM will take commentary from Sky next week or send someone like Matthew Thompson.

They’ve been using Sky’s coverage recently.

International Super Saturday

Rugby League fans will be spoilt for choice with an international triple-header on FOX LEAGUE, on Foxtel, this weekend.

FOX LEAGUE will ensure fans don’t miss a second of the action with all three games, LIVE, ad-break free during play and in HD.

Coverage begins at 12.20pm AEDT on Saturday when Samoa, led by Manly Sea Eagles enforcer Marty Taupau, take on a Fijian side boasting NRL stars Suliasi Vunivalu and Viliame Kikau.

New Zealand and the Great Britain Lions will both be looking to put disappointing last start losses behind them when they face-off in the second game at 3.00pm AEDT.

Wayne Bennett’s team will again rely on the Raiders’ English trio Josh Hodgson, John Bateman and Elliot Whitehead while Michael McGuire has recalled Bulldogs’ five-eighth Kieran Foran following New Zealand’s 26-4 loss to Australia last weekend.

Attention then turns to Australia v Tongan Invitational with Matt Shirvington teaming up with former Kangaroos Corey Parker and Greg Alexander and premiership winner Mick Ennis to preview the clash from 4.50pm AEDT.

Warren Smith will then be joined by Steve “Blocker” Roach and Braith Anasta to call all the action LIVE and ad-break free from 5.40pm AEDT.

FOX LEAGUE analyst Braith Anasta said: “It’s going to be a massive day of Test match footy on FOX LEAGUE.

“I love watching the Pacific Nations like Samoa and Fiji go head-to-head, they play an attractive brand of football and the games are always close.

“The Great Britain and New Zealand game is a hard one to tip, both sides were disappointing last weekend so you can guarantee both will come out breathing fire this weekend.

“Tonga have become the giant killers in these end of season tests and would love nothing more than to add Australia to their list of scalps.

“Mal Meninga’s men were clinical against New Zealand last weekend and will be desperate to finish the season off on a high.

“With Andrew Fafita, Jason Taumalolo and Manu Ma’u going up against David Klemmer, Josh Papalii and Payne Haas you can be certain that there’s going to be plenty of fireworks.”

Saturday’s international triple-header is part of Foxtel’s “Summer Fest,” a massive line-up of the hottest entertainment featuring the world’s best live sport, drama, movies and shows all in the one place this summer.

Will Warren Smith and Steve “Blocker” Roach and Braith Anasta be at Eden Park?
