Fox Footy

According to the article, the hold up on any extension with the AFL and Foxtel is about getting more subscribers in Adelaide and Western Australia.

Which is interesting and something I’d wondered myself for some time, considering the smaller populations.

They still are. Seven/7mate viewers in NSW and Queensland don’t cop the three-hour delay for their teams’ matches like in SA and WA.

This arrangement should continue in the next broadcast deal from 2025 onwards.

There’s no chance that’s going to happen considering this line in the article you linked to:

Sources said the AFL is keen on the free-to-air exposure in the home states.

————————

The delay only happens for 3 matches per team, per season in those states

Fox Footy’s telecast of Adelaide v Fremantle match tomorrow afternoon will be relayed live into USA and Canada in Saturday primetime - 11pm in the east coast and 8pm in the west coast.

Why these two teams though? Neither have recorded a win yet! Why not show another match on delay?

Also prime-time: 11PM!

It is just the luck of the draw.

Well one of them is guaranteed to win tomorrow!

Fox Footy currently showing the Essendon v Nth Melbourne match on both 503 & 504.

The reason for that is the Melbourne v Gold Coast game started on 504 and ran until approx 8.30pm.
The Essendon v North Melbourne game started on 503 only at 7.30pm.

MMM did the same thing on the radio, they covered the Essendon vs North Melbourne match after the Melbourne v Gold Coast game.

As they should, they pay significantly more than Seven. AFL broadcast deal has to be honoured. Also Seven were always going to be highly unlikely to air games on Sunday-Tuesday nights with major reality shows Farmer and Origin, as well as Between Two Worlds, Guys and Gals Night, etc.
