Yep, it looks awful. Could we have that box near the Fox logo back?
That’s it. Also it has the live time counting down too. A very good use of the extra space which normally just has the following days games being advertised
Nah , it was too distracting , better on the scorebottom.
I wonder why they don’t have it for both games. Wouldn’t the viewers of the 2nd game want to know how the earlier game is going?
I’m seeing it on both games now.
Give it time, I reckon it will show up on the delayed 7+ telecast. I don’t think there are separate splits of that lower-third for different broadcasters and the Sydney game started earlier than the Collingwood game.
There you go. A delayed “live now” score on 7+. For reference, the live Collingwood game was starting the 4th quarter when this appeared on 7+.
I’m not sure how delayed coverage is a thing in 2026. This is the worst rights deal ever put in place. The AFL is a ridiculous organization.
You know it’s going to be this all the way until 2031 when the deal finishes? So are you going to keep saying this every year?
You’ve said this many times before. Everyone knows it. I don’t think you need to say it again ![]()
Jess Webster is calling Roos v Power today, alongside Dwayne Russell, according to Sunday Herald Sun’s Jon Anderson. Jess had commentated men’s matches on radio before, but today is her first on TV.
No mention of Ken Hinkley in Jon’s article though.
Jess is fantastic on radio. Her call of the Saints win was just as good as Jason Bennett on 7afl. So it’s fantastic that she’s going to be calling games for Fox
There’s a long list of sports rights deals that are far, far worse than the current AFL rights deal.
Exactly. In the 1990s, Seven purchased the broadcast rights to NSL soccer and didn’t air any games at all, only showing a weekly one hour highlights package late at night. It contributed to the collapse of the league itself.
Did Huddo just call Melb/Saints and straight now backing it up with Gold Coast/West Coast? ![]()
No, Melb/Saints was Hill & Middlemas
Having said that, Huddo almost certainly not at the ground.
And curiously, Fox treating this like a ch7 or fox exclusive game; using Fox branding on the graphics and mics.
Which makes sense since 7 doing their own call to be shown in QLD & WA.
