What was this?
Fox tried to poach Sandy Roberts prior to the 2013 season, 7 held him to his contact. Eventually he was allowed to jump ship in 2014.
But what does Sandy Roberts have to do with the graphics/simulcasts changes that you alluded to?
Calculon is right. 2012 they just took the entire channel 7 pre game. For the finals that year and 2013 onwards they decided to own pre/half/post show.
7 went from the generic AFL mics to the channel 7 live and free mics
Not sure the Sandy Roberts link but coverage did change for both networks.
I see Fox trying (and failing) to get Roberts as the first part of that particular tit-for-tat. 7 retaliated by changing branding from AFL back to 7Sport, Fox retaliates by doing their own wraparound coverage instead of taking 7s coverage verbatim.
Maybe it is just coincidence, but I wouldnât put it past these two broadcasters either.
âMade it seem likeâ and actually doing it are different things, thereâs no way theyâve been at the ground for every game so far this season, most of the games from QLD, SA & Tasmania have been called remotely from Dorcas St.
Surprised that they were at the Gabba for the Lions v Cats match last round.
Why? Where did you think it would be played?
What do you mean?, I was surprised that the commentators were actually at the ground and the match wasnât called remotely.
Oh right.
Do we know if 360 are doing the show live from Gather Round again this year? Has there been a call out for a live audience?
Yeah, that was done last week.
Fox having a few issues tonight with mics not working and earpieces not functioning 100%.
Fox calling the Gold Coast vs Adelaide game from the ground today.
Spotted during AFL 360 live from Adelaide, new Fox Footy-branded mics. Presumably for use outside of match day coverage from here on out. They had previously used Fox Sports-branded mics for such occasions, thought they are still used for AFL Tonight due to that program also airing on the Fox Sports News channel.
While Fox Sports 503 is the designated Masters Golf channel for this weekend, it will show the Gather Round match between North Melbourne and Gold Coast from 12.35pm AEST today. The other three Gather Round matches on Saturday will be shown live on Fox Footy.
Do the channels really mean anything when everyone is either watching through kayo or accessing it via an EPG? The always on â504â shouldâve disappeared from the kayo stream long ago.
Channel feed is useful so you donât have to keep changing streams once one game ends and another begins.
What irks me is the individual streams are just simulasts of the channel feed.
Give us the extra pre- and post-game coverage that they film anyway, and just add an info box to say another game is starting if theyâre so concerned about losing viewers at the end of games.
A lot of mistakes on Fox graphics at Gather Round. They had the wrong team name for goal graphics today and yesterday. And todays matchâs thatâs also on 7 had the generic AFL swipe (provided by 7) instead of the Fox footy swipe during replays
