Fox Cricket

I’d assume the poms have gone home too

Isa Guha did the Thunder game while Michael Vaughan has called a number of BBL games recently

Just catching up from the past couple months, and I have to say the match graphics from Seven, Fox, and Star Sports are all some of the ugliest packages I’ve seen in a long time. None of them look anything like what you’d expect in 2020 from a professional sports broadcaster — ugly fonts, ugly colours, and just ugly design.

So what has happened to Ian Healy?

Also John Hastings not involved in the BBL?

Isn’t Ian contracted to Nine?

John Hastings retired before last season (BBL|08) because of injury (he was coughing up blood every time he bowled).

Hastings did Marsh Cup matches but no BBL games this year.

I have fair use to copyright, please I deserve it

Hello, Bort here. New to this thread and just stopping by to review a report.

You mean there’s been others? Tell me more

Look, let me put this as plainly as I can for you.

Star Sports paid near on $1B US for the rights, you, as far as I am aware, paid nothing.

That doesn’t necessarily not entitle you to utilise it under fair dealing or some usage but given you are not a news organisation it’s harder to argue, especially given you have been doing live broadcasts of matches you don’t hold the rights to. The BCCI and Star Sports are Rightly protective of their rights to matches that are either being played or just completed, because highlight rights are still held by broadcasters.

Legitimate news companies wouldn’t take two minutes of match highlights for a report.

There were stages last night where 3 of their channels were being used for cricket. 501 for India vs Australia, 506 for the Bangladesh Premier League (caught a glimpse of it a couple of nights ago flicking KAYO Streams, appears the commentators were on ground standing in front of a sponsors screen), and 507 for South Africa vs England (anyone want to comment on Supersport’s graphics? I hate it when they have the “floating” graphical look using spidercam when a new batsmen is coming out, looks rather cheap although given RSA’s economic situation cheap is hardly surprising. They also have more Englishmen in the com box than South African’s using their teams of 3 with Nicholas, Atherton, Hussain and Pietersen outnumbering Pollock, Ntini who hasn’t been used for the 3rd test and Haysman. Mbangwa is Zimbabwean).

Due to overlap between BBL doubleheader and India v Australia ODI tonight (January 19), the BBL clash between Heat and Renegades will be shown live on Fox Sports 503 while the one-day match will be broadcast on Fox Cricket.

Pietersen is South African.

They also have Michael Holding from Jamaica.

I’m not the biggest fan of that floating graphic either which nearly all the cricket broadcasters use these days. I do like the Supersport graphics overall.

how come Fox doesnt broadcast any of the big T20 leagues outside Australia bar IPL.

How about Super Smash NZ or the England Blast?

Fox has the CPL (Caribbean), IPL (India), BBL, WBBL, BPL (Bangladesh), HKT20B (Hong Kong) and GT20 (Canada).

503 had the ODI pre game before starting the BBL coverage at 7pm, just before the first ball.

Hong Kong T20 Blast was cancelled last year due to ongoing financial issues.

Based on the press release, it seems Fox Cricket will take Seven’s feed for Scorchers v Strikers on Friday, and Strikers v Hurricanes on Sunday.

News Corp is reporting that Aaron Finch will join the Fox commentary team for the BBL finals series.

Joe Bloggs reading that release will think Fox won’t have any commentators for those two games, therefore will switch to Seven.

Given the reports that all departments at fox will be trimmed back this year we will see more and more of this. Pointless simulcasts and now they’re not making any money. They did this to themselves.
