Fox Cricket

Why did Cricket Australia schedule the JLT Cup final on a weekday? Very few people will be going to the game. It should be on the weekend of October 13-14.

FOX SPORTS, on Foxtel, today welcomed three new faces to the growing FOX CRICKET commentary team as part of the biggest shake-up in cricket broadcasting.

Former Australian wicketkeeper, Ian Healy and current stars, Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy join a formidable line-up of experts at FOX CRICKET.

Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne lead the new team, combining with Andrew Symonds , Michael Hussey , Brett Lee , Mark Waugh , Allan Border , Isa Guha , Mel Jones , Kerry O’Keeffe , Michael Vaughan , Brendon Julian , Jessica Yates and Mark Howard .

Ian Healy said he was looking forward to being part of the team: “I’m very happy to be joining FOX SPORTS in what is a very exciting time for cricket in this country. FOX CRICKET is going to give the viewer at home exactly what they want and deliver a level of coverage they’ve never seen before, I feel lucky to be part of it”.

Launching ahead of the biggest summer of cricket, the new dedicated FOX CRICKET channel will provide more cricket to fans than ever before.

Viewers will be treated to a whole new experience with exciting innovations, the best commentary line-up and a whole new look and feel across a massive summer of cricket.

And today the channel took another step towards its launch with the release of the FOX CRICKET logo. The eye-catching design brings in the iconography of the ball and stumps with a modern twist that is sure to grab people’s attention.

As the new home of cricket, all men’s Test Matches, One-Day and T20 Internationals plus every game of the Big Bash League will be shown LIVE, ad break free during play and in HD on FOX CRICKET. Women’s cricket will receive unprecedented coverage with Women’s Internationals and 23 WBBL games LIVE.

In addition, Foxtel’s dedicated 4K channel (channel 444), which begins October, will bring cricket fans Foxtel in 4K just in time for the November 4, Australia v. South Africa ODI, which will kick off Foxtel’s sports coverage in 4K, bringing the sights of the game to fans like never before.

FOX SPORTS’ cricket coverage will include Australia’s Test and ODI Series against Pakistan beginning October in the UAE.

Guessing that the watermark will only feature the first half of the logo (excluding the ball) to avoid it being too lengthy with the full logo being used everywhere else (eg; promos)

That logo is so unnecessary.

Appointing Healy (Ian) is a rare mis-step. Funny that it seems he won’t be doing men’s internationals though.

It’s the World Series Cricket logo tipped upside down. Trust Foxtel to ‘borrow’ another logo!

Any indication yet about what Foxtel will be doing for a streaming service, to replace the Cricket Australia Live pass?

I think the CA Live Pass will continue to be available, because you will need it for not only live streaming of all Australian international matches, JLT Cup, BBL and WBBL, but also radio commentary of selected matches from ABC and Crocmedia.

The radio commentary streaming is separate to the Live Pass - you only need to register for an account to access it rather than having to buy a subscription

At least Foxtel viewers won’t have to suffer his lame and cringe Dad jokes during rain delays at internationals

“ah, yes Mark, pretty soggy here, you can see they’ve got this device called a cover, doing it’s job, eh hehe haha now remember when I was the leader in this statistic back in my day, yes. Now what’s for dinner tonight boys”.

Foxtel seem to be going more for ex-Nine talent than Seven, though might be just extras to fill the voids in teams?

Fox have recruited former Nine producer Brad McNamara, that might be why.

They will just put everything online that can’t be carried on the network. ESPN only has four channels yet manages to survive putting a ton of stuff on ESPN3 and now ESPN+

lol Mark Howard at the bottom of that article. 0 wickets, 0 international runs, 0 World Cups.

The problem is Fox Sports doesn’t have a ‘Watch ESPN’ type service. Yes, they occasionally stream some things online (eg; non-broadcast FFA Cup matches) but it’s nowhere near a robust offering which would allow them to regularly carry ‘overflow’ events
