Canât believe the old bag is still on the show
Time to put her out to pasture
She is hilarious, I couldnât help but crack up when she mentioned moving North Melbourne to Tassie for the millionth time.
And Gold Coast Suns keep getting away scot free (a discussion for another day though)
â
Lloydy mentioned Bruce McAvaney, I guess an elephant in the room (coincidentally thereâs a new segment called The Elephant In The Room - Iâm not kidding) and said Fox Sportsâ Gerard Whateley and Anthony Hudson will be fighting for that Friday night slot to replace him.
Was he just joking around, surely? Or does he have some intel
Who knows. Also there could be a new Classified host Wednesday nights. Good to get a break from Eddie.
Is this comment really needed?
Thereâs ways to say you donât like Caroline Wilsonâs contributions that donât make you a sexist prick.
What do you mean?
Well, not to be disrespectful, but if North are constantly in the frame, shouldnât Gold Coast at least be discussed too RE: move to Tassie?
No they shouldnât.
I actually agree as they wouldnât be missed but the AFL have spent millions on the team specially to further break into the Queensland market, which hasnât worked, at this point it would prove their efforts meaningless so theyâre probably going to continue forcing such a tragic team while Queenslanders continue to watch Rugby League.
Do you have any proof it hasnât worked? Because as far as I am aware they have had record crowds in QLD, grass roots football is at record highs. People just expect the market to be broken into in a day. But Rome wasnât built in a dayâŚ
Recent interest in the AFL in Queensland was probably helped by the hubs and Brisbaneâs continued success.
The real telling data is in membership sales though: https://www.afl.com.au/news/497527/afl-statement-on-club-memberships-in-2020
No that isnât the real telling part. For the AFL memberships arenât really the most important thing. They wanted to build their presence in QLD that helped grow the game. Both on the field and off the field. If attendances in grass roots football is up it means more people will pursue AFL rather than rugby in years to come. Which will mean more talent. Which will lead to more memberships as the game will be more exciting.
On the Gold Coast the AFL is a success at grassroots level and thatâs what the purpose of having the Suns on the coast are. Participation numbers for footballers in SEQ is booming and have continued to grow since 2011. The trouble now is there isnât enough over for the players!!
Yes the suns have underachieved on field but off field they have ticked every box that they have been asked to tick. With this, wins on the field and success will come.
Do NSW get the Wednesday show ? I can not seem to find it on any tv guide.
Seems not. You might have to watch it on 9Now.
Strange we got it last year oh well.
Unless it appears on 9Gem late tonight unannounced?
