The Jets are welcome to him BUT please keep him well away from Man United! United are crap right now and have been for 12 years but we’ve still won things. With a few better players United will rise again. United have a far better manager in Amorim than Ange ever was or is!
I admire the optimism.
I’m a Man U fan as well, have been for well over 25 years. The only way we will ever improve is for Sir Jim and the Glazers to either aell out and fuck off, or get taken out, if you get my drift.
I’ve been a United supporter for over 60 years. Seen it all before SAF and it wasn’t all good. I agree 100% about Ratcliffe and the Glazers. I do hope though that we can buy good players as I believe Amorim is a good manager. I’m over all the Ange/Spurs hype, they are a little team who don’t win much. United are still one of the World’s biggest clubs with at present, a terrible team.
United needs investment (both on and off the pitch), and based on who participated in the sale process, Ratcliffe is quite possibly the least worst option.
I’m unconvinced Amorim is the right man, but we can’t continue having a congaline of managers and expecting success.
In the third place playoff, host Germany lost to France 2-0.
Australia have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after beating Saudi Arabia 2-1 in Jeddah in their final third round group match. The home side, needing to defeat the Socceroos by at least four goals to reach the second automatic qualifying spot in the group, scored the opening goal in the 19th minute, before the Socceroos responded with goals either side of half time.
The Socceroos finished second in the points table behind Japan, who rebounded from last week’s shock loss in Perth to thrash Indonesia 6-0. It’s the sixth consecutive time that Australia have qualified for the World Cup.
Six teams remain for the fourth round: Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. They will be divided into two groups of three. Each group will play round robin matches at a centralised venue over one week in October this year. The winners of each group will qualify directly for the 2026 tournament, while the two second-placed teams in each group will play against each other over two legs in November, to determine which team advances to the inter-confederation play-offs. The draw for the fourth round will take place in Osaka on July 17.
Sunrise and Today followed the game this morning. Both reporting the outcome soon after the finish of the game. Sunrise elected to cross to London and Today to Melbourne. News Breakfast noted the win as well.
With the Socceroos now fully qualified for the next World Cup, a company would be keen to snap up some sponsorship.
The League of Ireland club submitted an appeal after Uefa notified them that they face expulsion from this season’s UEFA Conference League regarding multi-club ownership for the FAI Cup champions.
Along with missing out on European action, Drogheda will also be denied over €500,000 in prize money, due to multi-club ownership rules.
They are owned by American investors Trivela Group and qualified for the Conference League after winning last season’s FAI Cup.
However, Danish side Silkeborg IF are also part of Trivela’s structure and won their domestic cup competition. They also have a higher place finish in the domestic league.
The BBC adds:
Drogheda’s sitaution is similar to that being experienced by Crystal Palace, who qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup in May.
It is the only time the Premier League club has qualified for European football in their 120-year history, but Uefa is set to decide whether they breached its rules on teams under one multi-club ownership structure competing in that competition.
Uefa’s final ruling will centre on American businessman John Textor, owner of Eagle Football - which holds a 43% stake in Palace.
Eagle Football also owns a 77% stake in French side Lyon, who - like Palace - have qualified for next season’s Europa League.
Commonwealth Bank, which is currently the naming rights partner of the Matildas, the ParaMatildas and the Pararoos, is extending its sponsorship to the Socceroos, Olyroos and Young Socceroos as well. The new six-year deal starts on September 1 this year.

Thomas Frank is the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, replacing Ange Postecoglou. Frank joined from Brentford where he spent seven years as manager, leading the club from EFL Championship into Premier League.
Members of Western United’s A-League Men’s and Women’s squads were paid late for the third month in a row in June, leading to the yet another lodgement of breach notices for unpaid wages by Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) last Friday. This has kick-started a process that will allow the players to void their contracts and become free agents should they not be paid within 14 days. The club has also fallen behind on payments to non-playing staff.
UPDATE 27/6
Australian football - making the NSW state government look almost compentent. And legitmate.
There wasnt even a need to pit in either WU or Macarthur. Should have gone for Wollongong and Canberra.
Cant even get the Australian “Championship” right. Some of the foundation teams are struggling stay in their top divisons. Makes the FIFA Club World Cup look top shelf.
Should’ve just gone and copied the Japanese league system. IYKYK.

Sydney’s current venue hire agreement ends this season, and the good money is on a lot of games being played away from Moore Park in the future if Venues NSW and SCG can’t sort anything out.

This is also what happens when you sign a 10 year lease before the stadium is built
It sounds like they’re going to take all of the playing surface out and re-lay it from scratch.
Venues NSW isn’t having a good run with ground conditions - SCG hasn’t been great either and didn’t seem to bounce back from the Andrea Bocelli concert (despite having good timing between Swans games).
Interestingly no one seems to know how long it will impact Sydney FC - partly because there doesn’t seem to be a draw for next season yet.
