I think they are going to explore promotion/relegation once the second division is set up, established etc.

I guess Channel 10 would get rights to the NSD as well?

They’d go for them yes, but they wouldn’t see the light of day on FTA beyond a highlights show. Optus among others would also be interested, and there’s also the mooted FATV as well which they may go for to keep control in house and directly monetise the product to themselves.

FIFA said a 32-team Club World Cup will be played every four years from June 2025… Confederation champions from 2021 to '24 will be eligible to play in the Club World Cup.

The current version of the FIFA Club World Cup – an annual competition with seven teams – will be discontinued after 2023, with a new yearly club competition approved from 2024.

I can see the merit of a men’s team from the national capital, given Canberra United has been playing in the A-League Women since the competition began in 2008.

But why expand it into Auckland? Like Wellington Phoenix, if the team wins the A-League grand final, it won’t be able to take part in any Asian Football Confederation club competitions, such as the AFC Champions League. The champion however can take part in the brand new FIFA Club World Cup, starting from 2025.

I don’t think that matters, does it?

It doesn’t. Plus rules can change.

They’re an NZ team, they aren’t allowed to play in AFC comps.

New Zealand is a member of Oceania Football Confederation, which has its own Champions League. Wellington Phoenix are in an awkward position as they are not able to play in the OFC comps, simply because they participate in the A-League.
