The French haven’t been playing well in the Nations League lately

I’m so happy that the Socceroos made the World Cup. Yes, it is a tough draw for us.

The schedule looks like this:
Wednesday, 23 November - 6am: Australia v France
Saturday, 26 November - 9pm: Australia v Tunisia
Thursday, 1 December - 2am: Australia v Denmark

The first two matches are good times to watch. The Denmark game is the awkward time for us on the East Coast.

Costa Rica beat New Zealand 1-0 in the World Cup intercontinental playoff in Qatar overnight, thanks to Campbell’s goal in the 3rd minute. The result means Costa Rica took the 32nd and final spot in the tournament, and will go into Group E alongside Spain, Germany and Japan.

Central Coast Mariners have received a provisional licence to become the league’s 12th team in 2023-24, subject to FA Board approval.

The inclusion of Western United in 2022-23 and Central Coast the following campaign ensures the league will rise to a 12-team, full home-and-away competition by 2023-24.

James Johnson is from Queensland and it isn’t a surprise that Brisbane won over Sydney and Melbourne for the Socceroos’ farewell match prior to the World Cup

Melbourne is ‘The home of the Matildas’ yet never gets them for a game… Sydney every time.

I am sure Melbourne will host a friendly involving the Matildas before next year’s World Cup.

What team are you looking to see?

i’m looking at Arsenal v Everton at the emirates, Fulham FC vs Chelsea at Craven Cottage or Chelsea vs West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.

My team is playing but i don’t have time to make the hike to Birmingham to see them

edit: these are picks across 2 weekends, hence why Chelsea is on the list twice

Here’s a quote from JJ:

Football Australia chief executive and proud Queenslander James Johnson was delighted about the Socceroos returning to Suncorp Stadium.

“On a personal level I’m very happy to have the Socceroos back (in Brisbane) – this is also where I’m from,” Johnson said.

“Playing in a rectangular stadium, that’s specific to football really makes a difference in terms of atmosphere.”

yet continues to schedule games at Accor Stadium. And Suncorp is not specific to football - like AAMI, Commbank, even Allianz, they are Rugby stadiums first.

True, but having been to rectangle pitched games at oval stadiums (I’ve been state of origin rugby league and a few rugby matches at marvel stadium as well as Morocco vs Chilie men and USA vs Norway in the woman’s for Sydney 2000 at the MCG) I’d take Suncorp any day of the week. Your closer to the action and it feels more immersive than having this portion of field than the playing surface.

In other news fullam v Chelsea at craven cottage fits my schedule and I have a local supplier here who can sort me with tickets

Oh no don’t get me wrong those rectangular stadiums are amazing compared to oval stadiums, but it is completely false to say that they are ‘football specific’, unless you are talking about the future Tarniet Stadium, or Nashville’s Geodis Park.
