Hi, how do you access FMList logs? I have an account on the website but can’t seem to find anywhere to view any logs.
Thanks
On the homepage, you click on “Visual logbook” in the middle of the page (you shouldn’t even need to be logged in to view I don’t think) -
Then there’s a button to view the visual logbook for FM (and a separate one for DAB). You can adjust the timeframes in the dropdown menus.
Good to see it’s all been updated just in time, thats my first E skip recorded with the TEF
Well now only the inverted audio-formatted TVCL3 is still online (and is the sole survivor of the TVCL TEF webservers) after TVCL1 suddenly went offline.
Not sure if someone targetted that one too or if the portable TEF went flat? (Paging @tvcl)
Any chances of DXing from Sydney via the TVCL1/TVCL2 servers is now impossible, as TVCL3 is meant to be a server for local Sydney stations + Wollongong/Gosford stations (as noted in the tuner’s description).
@VK3SWL, can you please make sure that you keep your TEF6686 plugged in and switched on 24/7? Your webserver is a lifesaver for DXing in Sydney when other webservers go offline, and especially with a heatwave forecast for the remainder of this week and into Monday, we might have a good chance at Tropo or another E-Skip event. To see your webserver suddenly go offline next would be a great loss to the DXing community, especially if there’s another E-Skip event or Tropo.
TVCL is overseas until some point in January so there’s little point pinging him. Remember that these nodes are set up voluntarily by DXers- they’re under no obligation to provide 24/7 service, as you would expect of a subscription model. Be thankful you have access to remote DX at all- up until fairly recently, one had to be content with DXing from their own location with whatever equipment they could muster.
Yes, the computer running TVCL1 seems to be down. I can’t investigate why until I’m back, as mentioned by dxnerd. The TEF itself is powered by mains power, so it can’t go “flat”.
DXing is still possible via TVCL3 – it’s just not as good as TVCL2. Today it picked up FNQ stations via SpE, for example.
No worries, I’ve tried to keep it on over the last few days, because I’m living in an apartment complex antennas aren’t really allowed so I’m moving the antenna around a lot that the building manager won’t notice so the performance might vary but at the moment I have the Yagi strapped to the balcony overhanging which seems to be the best performer but that might change tonight as I don’t want the building manager who works weekdays to find out, he might have a fit lol
The joys of apartment and strata living! Thankfully no problems putting up a Yagi here.
I took this picture last night, this is how I have it setup at the moment and it’s performing wonderfully
You’re doing very well considering those challenges!
King Island/Tassie very strong into the Cheltenham (VIC) node atm.
I’ve got Power FM Eden in at the moment, I’m trying to lock the RDS but no luck
Wow. That looks like a challenging (but increasingly common) environment, especially in the mounted direction.
Yeah beware the dreaded building manager, committee, nosy owners etc.
BTW I wanted to make comment about the scan direction on your webserver.
For some reason your tuner tunes in the correct direction on the webserver, but it scans in the opposite direction, which for a user is quite annoying. Is there a setting in your settings to fix that?
I was wondering if it might have related somehow back to this TEF tuning direction problem (below)?
But I’m not sure.
I’d love a node in Darwin. All the benefits of DXing up there without putting up with Mango Madness and the killer crocs.
Those of you who use my node a fair bit, has the inverted sound bug gone away and not returned? I haven’t heard it in quite a while since the firmware update and me fiddling with the RDS settings
Now that you mention it, I can’t recall hearing that inverted audio for a while either.
it is fixed for good. Thank you.
From a comment I read, fiddling with the RDS settings is possibly what caused the bug that switches to MPX. That setting has since been removed with the latest beta firmware. Let’s hope that’s the case.
I still need to update my radio to that version at some stage, mine is currently running the second latest firmware. It’s also so I can try the spectrum analyser plugin and play with that
The latest beta (v2.11.10) has again broken the bandwidth function of the scan my plugin uses, however if you’re feeling daring, you can try my fork instead, featuring a few extra options. You can’t brick the radio, so if you don’t like it, you can always flash back to the official version.
I’ve had a look and have asked the scanner plugin developer for help, we are both stumped. We can get it to scan the right direction now but it always stops 1 decimal point either side of the right frequency for some reason. I might have to revert to the old plugin version for now and just have it so it’s reversed but still working.
