The way Australians consume news is set for a major change with the launch of Flash, a first-of-its-kind live and on demand news-only streaming service with more than 20 leading global and local news sources.

Flash will help people stay informed and connected, bringing together the widest range of opinions and perspectives from an unrivalled line-up of trusted news sources including Al Jazeera, BBC World News, Bloomberg TV, CNN International, FOX News Channel, France24 and Sky News Australia.

Available on phones, tablets, PCs and TVs for just $8 a month, Flash will feature user innovations including: Personalisation, allowing users to follow the opinions, topics and news that matter to them and FlashLists, the ability to create and save stories to watch later. Soon after launch more features will be available including FlashPoint, providing every angle of every story and FlashNav, getting straight to the big moments of stories faster.

There’s a lot of filler there.

No CNN Domestic, MSNBC, DW and no services in languages other than English like CNN Indonesia etc

Okay it’s now on iPhone and iPad but not Apple TV.

I have it on Apple TV - downloaded to my iphone, straight onto my Apple TV

I’ve tried searching in the App Store on the Apple TV and it isn’t there.

The iPhone app has won me over already - it supports iOS Picture in Picture, which the Foxtel Go app doesnt

No it doesnt come up - you need to use the link that’s on the front page of Flash’s website

I suspect that they’ve hidden it in the store leading up to the launch

How do I do that on the Apple TV?

At the moment you cant - but if you download the app on an iPhone/iPad (if you’ve got one) it should automatically add it to your Apple TV home screen

For a service claiming it provides the full spectrum of news sources, it’s a somewhat underwhelming lineup (especially for people like me who already have access to most of those channels) - especially with the number of quasi-channels being offered.

Was thinking about perhaps subscribing to it but might hold off now until it offers more proper channels.

They still haven’t addressed the issue that after 5pm there is no more news. I’m not interested in the commentary of Credlin, Bolt and the rest.

Why can’t Sky News have bulletins after 5pm?
