People travelling on selected cruises and a number of international airlines (including Cathay Pacific) will be able watch the World Cup live via Sport 24.
Dolby and MagentaTV Bring Fans Closer to the FIFA World Cup 2026⢠in Germany with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmo
Dolby Laboratories (NYSE: DLB) and Deutsche Telekom today announced that MagentaTV will bring fans a premium FIFA World Cup 2026⢠viewing experience, becoming the first platform in Germany to broadcast a major football tournament in Dolby VisionŽ and Dolby AtmosŽ. All 104 matches will be delivered in vibrant, vivid imagery and immersive sound, transporting audiences to the center of the stadium, surrounded by the cheers of thousands of fans.
Unlike rivals ITV, BBC presenters and pundits will work from the studio, using an LED backdrop that switches between images of the 16 host cities in North America until the quarter-final stage.
The BBC has created a massive and modern studio in the English city of Salford to cover the 2026 World Cup instead of having a full presence inside America, in a move aimed at reducing broadcast costs without impacting coverage quality. The studio is equipped with a 360-degree panoramic LED screen featuring visual effects and artificial winds to simulate the atmospheres of host cities, and backgrounds can be changed directly to make the analysts appear as if they are in New York or Los Angelesâa decision defended by BBC Sport director Alex Kay-Jelski, who confirmed that this technology will save millions of pounds for the network.
I wonder if SBS-HD will use an actual Dolby true surround feed with their AC3 5.1 audio stream, rather than just a virtual surround feed?

You can read more about it here (alongside a host of other resources):
World Feed commentary pairings according to listings on icdb:
- Peter Drury / Alan Smith

Drury/Smith are the âleadâ team and hence, will call one semi and the final, and I suspect either Tyler/Townsend or McNamara/Holland (depending on how Martinâs voice holds up by the end of the tournament) will call the other semi and the bronze final.
I can guarantee that my VPN will be getting some very very good use this tournament
Wonder if with there being 16 pairs theyâre located one pair per city, assuming all World feed commentary is on location.
