Reporting that both BBC and ITV plan to skip broadcasting the World Cup final halftime show. It will be available via digital means instead. Instead of airing the musical performance, the networks intend to use the extended halftime break on their main TV channels to analyze the first-half action.

FIFA has made it clear that it will allow broadcasters to conduct halftime interviews and show commercials during the new âhydration breaksâ in each half of the 2026 World Cup, but has left it to them to decide whether to do so.
According to one Fox Sports exec, theyâre a big yes on the first one, and theyâre talking about the second.
Guidelines: Broadcasters have been advised to start ads no earlier than 20 seconds after the referee calls the break and to return to the live match feed at least 30 seconds before play resumes.
I will be very very happy if SBS do the same. And then I will be absolutely ecstatic if broadcasters start doing this with the Super Bowl half time. (Yeah, I know the NFL wonât let themâŚone can dream)
TSN announced the broadcast team that will do the hours between the matches.
40 matches will be shown live on CTV, 4 on CTV2 and all 104 on one of the umpteen channel combinations of TSN.
The broadcast rights in Bangladesh are up for grabs again, less than a month from the tournament.
BBC has announced their studio teams for their opening matches.
For Friday June 12:
- Canada v Bosnia-Herzegovina: Gabby Logan, Olivier Giroud, Micah Richards
- USA v Paraguay: Mark Chapman, Ashley Williams, Steph Houghton
Note that the second match - surprisingly not the first one - will be BBCâs first outing of the Red Button offering, where viewers can replace TV commentary with 5 Liveâs.
Hereâs a preview of the space theyâll be sitting in.
Its French-language sister channel RDS had also revealed the broadcast team for the tournament.
PCCW (parent company of Now TV and FTA channel Viu) revealed its World Cup coverage in Hong Kong earlier this month.
Globo is running a campaign for people to acquire antennas and watch the World Cup games without the delay caused by streaming.

Seems a bit of a petty campaign when youâve lost World Cup rights (and now only have pieces of it remaining) to a YT channel.
Somehow we all missed it but it was announced last Thursday.

For businesses:
It was posted over in the NZ TV thread I believe but yes good spot

In Mexico, coverage will be split between two networks.
Except all thatâs on TV (they will cover the same matches) is:
- Group stage: 17 matches of 72
- Round of 32: 4 matches of 16 (5 should Mexico be involved)
- Round of 16: 4 matches of 8
- Quarterfinals: 2 matches of 4
- Both semifinals and the final
To see all that and the rest of the tournament, one would have to fork out MX$799 (discounted pricing until June 4) or MX$999 for the World Cup pass on ViX Premium. Thatâs $46.06 and $57.59 respectively in todayâs exchange rate.
SBT also running a campaign to watch the cup on broadcast TV to avoid the streaming delay.
Watch the cup via streaming while all your neighbours cheer a goal you have to wait up to a minute to see.

The wait is over.
Itâs a massive boost to Zeeâs upcoming Unite8 Sports offering, which comprises of a Hindi channel, an English channel, and HD versions of them.
Now FIFA just needs to sort out the broadcast rights in Bangladesh.
And the official announcement has arrived. Zee - or âZâ as FIFA called them for unknown reasons - win quite a lot.
BBC will roll out a 3D option on its sport website so that goals can be relived. Not sure what happens when you press the audio button.
This is in addition to in-progress highlights being published for BBC games.
Theyâve also confirmed that 5 Live will broadcast 92 matches with the other 12 mentioned in passing updates.
