Fetch TV

It has to be the network. It seems to just be Ten that has really old photos on there.

I’ve been scraping EPG data from Fetch for a long time and their thumbnails have always been outdated or just a bit off. The weirdest ones can be seen on the Nine guides. They use a 9Life template to make generic thumbnails for all the channels:

334x188 (1) 334x188 (2) 334x188

Sky News Regional (via SCA) on my box still has a Sky News on WIN logo…

Oh yes i forgot about that!

It’s weird because ABCs channels all have the updated logos.

The ABC then must have made an effort to get them to change theirs?

Fetch is adding the ability to watch IP delivered FTA via the EPG (in the 400 range) - ABC and SBS has gone live, others to follow

Just spotted this and was about to ask if it was new.

Can you explain why?

To complete with Hubbl (most likely).

Also allows them to market to people who don’t have an antenna

This technology is also available with the current IQ4 and IQ5 so it competes with that. This is better though because as I understand it the IQ4 & 5 are now IPtv only for FTA.

No you can still get FTA via aerial

The Fetch mini has had similar for years where it can work without an antenna and stream from a Mighty on the same network so this will be great. I’m assuming though that for Tasmania it will be just the Melbourne commercial channels available just like with the Hubbl so the local advertising will miss out further and things like 7 Tas News, WIN News and the 4:30 edition of Tipping Point will be out but apart from that and the news updates there’s no difference these days in scheduling which makes this possible - but another nail in the coffin of broadcast FTA.

Really? I thought FTA was IP only? Or is it both?

Both - I prefer via aerial for the ability to record.

IP on Foxtel is optional. and as said you cannot record via IP.

yeah I know you can’t record with IP but I didn’t know it was optional.

I think it’s starting to because more mandatory. I’ve heard their starting to switch satellite customers.

Was looking at the IP delivered channels yesterday and disappointed at the picture quality on the ABC stations. I’d hoped that the News Channel would be in some form of HD as it it on iView. But it didn’t look like it. Using the app it looked better.

Surely it’s just tapping into the iView streams. I say that as I had to log into SBS to watch its suite of channels.

Yeah it is. It says iView just before the stream starts. I haven’t checked the SBS feed.
