Well we’ve seen the Liberals co-opt the teal colours of independents, but now copying Labor red? Internal polling mustn’t be great.

Very good observation there.

Also LOL at that slogan. Not sure how a barrister on a 6 figure salary is going to relate to those who are struggling with cost-of-living crisis that started under her party’s government. It’s like a billionaire born into a wealthy family proclaiming to be a voice for the homeless.

They know all the perks, interesting that a city councillor would even require that much childcare.

Campbell was a City of Melbourne councillor and therefore eligible to be reimbursed for childcare costs. Between January 2021 and December 2022, the mother of three was reimbursed $30,000, according to council disclosure logs.

Putting aside the fact that the conduct of those Coalition MPs were terrible (I mean, you can argue all you like but you don’t hut the attendants). What is the point of these Coalition MPs leaving the chamber so urgently during a division? Don’t they actually want their votes to be recorded and support their party position?

The bill in question was the Social Security (Administration) Amendment (Income Management
Reform) Bill 2023, which would basically give some social security recipients better access to online banking to better manage their finances. They knew the bill would pass, seeing as it isn’t particularly controversial, but they don’t want to be seen as voting against it on the official record, as that would give the government ammunition to attack the opposition. Abstaining would give the opposition MP’s the argument that they technically didn’t vote against the bill, even though abstaining fundamentally isn’t that much different from a ‘no’ vote

Thanks for the context.

Seriously I can’t imagine anyone abstaining or even daring to vote no to a bill like that. But then that’s how they got the name ‘No-alition’.

Well the count is on in Aston.

Not a great start for Dutton and co. These seats already counted skew Chinese who tend to favour Labor, they will be hoping that soon stops and reverses otherwise in all sorts of trouble here.

When are postal and early votes counted?

Pre Poll should be done tonight.

Labor really jumping ahead now in some historical Liberal dominated booths. Shit Labor might get this holey moley.

Dutton would be cacking his dacks rn.

Let’s hope you’re right. Will prove just how useless Dutton and the Libs are.

Wonder who Dutton will blame. Likely the chaos around the state LNP government.

Sky is terrible. Labor killing this yet it’s an Andrews sledgefest. Can they not perhaps talk about the shitshow that is the Liberal party!

They’re never introspective. It’s not their fault. Australians want more conservative governments we are continually told by Rowan Dean and Peta Credlin. Yet time and time again the electorate is becoming more progressive.

The last year the coalition have been wreckers and may sayers and just continue to focus on culture wars. People aren’t interested in that shit. As for Dutton, he is toxic and unhinged. Not leadership material.

Trust them to being the party of the ‘small businesses, farmers, everyday people that the PM comes into the parliament and LAUGHS AT’ according to Sussan ley

Labor actually got things done on so many levels. Coalition kept promoting ‘jobs jobs and economy’ but have done the square root of f all and they only appeal to the rich bogans and country yokels.

The problem with the Coalition is if Dutton isn’t suitable (which he isn’t, period), who else have they got left? Taylor? Andrews? Ley? Fletcher? Hastie? Scomo 2.0? Beg Frydenberg to come back? Getting desperate here.

Parachute someone from the senate into a safe Liberal seat? Or (shudder) promote someone like Bridget Archer from the backbench?

This can be called by 830. These numbers are horrendous for the Libs.

Andrews’ unpopularity is probably the reason Labor’s swing is only single digits.

Antony Green calls the by-election.

Kroger having a meltdown on air. He’s eating his own yet again. Crazy stuff.

Keith Wolahan still thinking that their candidate is great and that there’s lots of postals and pre-poll to be counted.

Let’s hope those will be for Labor and show up the Liberals how out of touch they are. Then in the future they can target Deakin and Menzies and dominate Melbourne.
