More good news from the government with its emergency Energy relief bill ready to be passed after a deal with the greens and support from Pocock.

Effectively negotiating in the national interest. Shows how had the previous government were. This government have had a great 7 months so far. Really improving so many things. The coalition again showing itā€™s an irrelevancy with its obstructionist bleating ongoing. They offer nothing.

But butā€¦ BOTH major parties are the same! Theyā€™re BOTH tools of global capital, so the only pure parties are the Greens and the Victorian Socialists! (as say a few people here)

In all seriousness, Albo and co are generally doing a great job, and I think (and hope) that Labor will remain in power until at least the end of the decade. I just canā€™t see how the LNP will recover under that knuckledragger Dutton and his psycho Trump-lite nonsense.

Good government. Something we lacked from 2013-2022

Love how they oppose this bill when they were the ones bleating about that precious $275 power price cut when parliament started in the middle of the year. Pot calling the kettle black?

Maybe they need a mirror although arguably even if they had one they wouldnā€™t be able to see through it because of McDuttoā€™s gloriously shiny potato head.

Terrible tweet from Zali Steggall. Dutton was clearly upset. He used to be a police officer.

Would love to know what purpose you think a session of condolence motions actually serve in running the country.

Why do you and your ilk always twist things, looking to find offence where none exists or is intended?

That tweet was written prior to the condolence motion. Which right wing mouthpiece has told you to find this offensive this time? Rta? Bolt? Rowan? Susie?

Even some ā€˜left leaningā€™ twitter accounts think Zaliā€™s tweet was uncalled for. What happened in Queensland was horrific. Parliament should definitely take as long as is required to acknowledge the situation.

So about ten minutes, then move on.

Whilst Iā€™m sure he was, I somehow doubt that she meant it in a sense that sought to take anything away from the condolence motion.

Also when the Coalition kept pushing for the condolence motion over the debate of the new energy policies, itā€™a not hard to see some truth in Zaliā€™s tweet. Iā€™m sure if Labor prioritised the condolence motion over the debate then she wouldā€™ve criticised them too.

And they did without hurting anyone. Move on.

I think some of you are being a little bit cold-hearted. This is arguably the most serious crime in Australia in recent times. Two young police officers have literally been executed by a psychopathic family for what was supposed to be a routine check of a house. Members of Parliament should be allowed to comment on the matter for as long as they like - two hours in this case is completely understandable. The energy debate comes second here.

Not at all, we just arenā€™t members of your cult.

Parliament was recalled to pass a specific piece of legislation. A horrific crime took place after parliament had been recalled and before it had sat, as is convention, a condolence motion was scheduled for noon.

The coalition then moved to delay debate until after the condolence motion so it would appear anyone voting against the delay were being disrespectful. Peter Dutton was always going to have time to deliver his rightfully emotional condolences along with other members of parliament.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good culture war.

Stop playing politics to serve your extreme right wing agenda.
This is becoming tiresome and old.

Sure, I have an extreme right wing agenda. Happy to move onā€¦

I admit a lot of my views are towards the right, but to say that Iā€™m ā€˜extremeā€™ right wing is an overstep IMO. But anyway, letā€™s move on! :slightly_smiling_face:

Unfortunately life isnā€™t that easy. You make claims which are factually incorrect and just like that want to move on? Defend you claims or retract them, donā€™t just shrug your shoulders and move on. We all know itā€™ll only be a matter of time before you spew out the next talking point from the perpetually offended . If you donā€™t like being challenged, this probably isnā€™t the right place for you unl ss you put a little more thought into your posts rather than regurgitating whatever you read on twitter, or in the Herald Sun, hear on 3AW or watch on Sky.

The reason I wanted the conversation to move on is because I donā€™t appreciate being labelled far-right as was mentioned by another user above. Iā€™m more than happy to admit that most of my views lean towards the right, but to suggest Iā€™m extreme right off my comments on this situation is complete overreach.

I have no issue with having my views challenged. Debate is good.
