He’ll need a bigger broom

Pauline Hanson visibly upset at the news of Kimberley Kitching’s death. Despite the two of them being on the opposite side of politics, they became close friends and also spent time in Afghanistan together.

Yes, he’ll need them to clean out his cabinet when he’s back in opposition.

Surely when ScoMo loses the election, he will step down as leader??

Agree, little chance he will be the Leader Of The Opposition.
That will probably be Dutton or Frydenberg.

The “Morrison Rule” was introduced on 3 December 2018 with the new rule requiring the incumbent PM or Liberal Leader must have 2/3rds of a party room majority

Clive Palmer’s billboard with necessary corrections. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve seen a few billboards like that. If I was them, I’d move them to new billboard locations, because those are an obvious waste of money when they can be so easily vandalised.

No, you need a 2/3rds majority against the incumbent leader to trigger a leadership spill.

Driving around Kew today, JoFry’s mug is everywhere, almost every billboard. No expense spared, they must be scared. I’m not seeing any other electorate like that yet.

On separate note, does a billboard with a photo, a name and a party logo really win anyone over?

Been forgetting to mention - have seen a billboard around here for Senator Eric Abetz which is very plain just a simple “Senator Eric Abetz - Putting Tasmania First” or similar. Can’t even recall seeing a photo on there and definitely no mention of Liberal or Liberal branding. He had been the number 1 on the Senate ticket but has now been relegated to what’s expected to be an unwinnable position so it was quite interesting seeing either the lack of effort or the effort to distance himself.

federal government claimed it had to wait for state premiers to ask it to declare a national emergency despite new laws giving Canberra the power to issue the declaration on its own

the federal government changed the law in December 2020 to give itself the power to issue the emergency declarations unilaterally in a change recommended by the royal commission into the Black Summer bushfires two years ago

If this government ever stops passing the buck I’ll eat my hat

I don’t understand why they think the argument “oh, we were waiting on the states to make the request” makes them look good

The media always reports this buck passing as fact. Happened for covid quarantine and the djokovic visa saga, even thought the constitution clearly says they are federal responsibilities.

This is a massive lose for Morrison.

I’m not so sure about that - 2% (from the undecideds) after a frankly shithouse performance since the last newspoll could be considered a pretty decent result given the circumstance.

Albo hasnt been able to sustain any kind of pressure on preferred PM numbers over a long period of time either - its all been Morrison’s multitude of fuckups that has seen his approval rating fall

Newspoll’s results have basically stalled for the last few polls now - will be interesting to watch

I can’t believe as much as 42% still see him as the best option :man_shrugging:
