Federal Election 2019 - Media Coverage

Wasn’t there a year when Howard’s staff broke into the networks’ feed room to disrupt the signal?

Not sure but they were vehemently opposed the worm as it invariably favored the opposition. Howard was a joke. He killed the debates as he refused to to them and made sure the one only one would be by Ray Martin rather than the ABC which has been traditionally been the case.

mod edit

In the US there is a presidential debates commission that oversees the debates and formats. We should have some sort of independent structure like that. Instead we have seven hijacking these debates in Perth of all places. That moderator of theirs is the worst political journalist in this country. Can’t stand him.

The ABC held outside broadcasts at the Brisbane seat of Dickson (the seat of Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton) today for both radio and TV.

That full screen transition reminds me of the one Nine used for their coverage of the 2016 US Presidential Election.

Ten will mount a full election night coverage to be anchored by Waleed Aly along with Lisa Wilkinson, Hamish Macdonald, Peter van Onselen, Sandra Sully, Chris Bath, Hugh Riminton and Christopher Pyne.

Also in The Australian, it is reporting that the breakfast debate on Seven next Monday is expected to be at Midday eastern time, (so no interruption to primetime). Other debates expected are one for Sky News/Daily Telegraph and one on a Sunday night on Nine. It appears the leaders have gone cold on a debate on the ABC.

Great to see 10 anchoring full election coverage rather than just giving updates and breaking into normal programming like in 2016.

Natarsha Belling broke into prime time scheduled programming at different hours rather than a full coverage at the last election.

Potentially a good line-up. Ten certainly have the set for it; looking forward to the visuals.

Wonder whether it will be live streamed on CBS News in the US with stream geoblocked here

Excellent news. Seems like a fairly good line-up too.

Very unusual to have a major election debate during daytime.

Because of the inclusion of Waleed, Lisa and Hamish; I wonder if 10 will brand the coverage as The Election Project, like they did in 2013? Otherwise you’d think it would be anchored by a 10 News First presenter.

What a great presenting line up from ten. Hopefully they promote it. They don’t have someone listed from the ALP… perhaps Sam Dastyari?

HAHAHA they don’t need anyone from the ALP when they have Waleed Aly hosting with Lisa Wilkinson, PVO and Hamish McDonald!!
